Good enough to keep engaged

Warning: Spoilers
In previous episode, Alicia approaches to Eli Gold regarding her running as States Attorney. And of course, he was more than ready for this moment and start of new exciting campaign. So, Oppo Research mostly concentrates on Alicia's issues, her background check and chances of winning the elections.

Since Eli is head of Governor's Office, he can not run another Florrick's campaign, that why he hires one of the best managers Jonathan Elfman. The first meeting between him and Mrs Florrick takes place in her residence discussing backgrounds, pros/cons of her candidacy. It seems, both, Eli and Elfman have done their job, digging out a lot about Alicia, including some news, she had no idea of, for instance, Zach's girlfriend's pregnancy and abortion, his brothers affairs and her mom spanking little child in the mall. Oppo Research is simply about how Alicia starts dealing with her family and her clients after she officially starts to run.

She has to drop Lemond Bishop and she negotiates with Cary and Diane to do so, but Mr. Bishop is neither happy about it, nor is going to change his attorney. Despite the fact that it's been a file motioned about his real estate and it's definitely happening because of Agos, he does not go away.

In this episode, Alicia has to deal with many things, including her family, their reactions and her work. In the meeting with her future campaign manager, we see how strong she is, how she responds to the questions and how strong she feels about herself. I also liked how sincere her character is, not trying to hide any uncertainty and just gives straight answers.

The best part of this episode was Alicia meeting with Finn. They have some connection, bond, that can be evolved to a very pleasant romance, and I am for it.

Oppo Research was a good episode, not one of the bests, but very well written and interesting. It mostly happens in one room, which is Alicia's apartment and it does not have this breathtaking pace, that overwhelms and explodes your mind. It's just a start of something very very big and I hope it comes soon.

I'm a gay porn expert , with all the Israelis gay porn stars they decided to make him Palestinian preform bareback !!! they could make him Lebanes or Turkish Israeli as there are some known porn stars from Turkey and Lebanon and a lot from Israel but not he has to be palestian !!! and why they made it a big deal to preform bareback if you watch porn you'd know that there is always a warning that it's a bareback and all stars were tested and they are clean and the advice people to practice safe sex

6.4 is ****
edwagreen13 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Even though Cary's trial is still looming, he was not the focal point of this episode.

6.4 deals with what prospective candidates have to go through when they run for office. Their managers have to meet with them to discuss skeletons, not only in their own personal lives but those within the orbit-family and friends. Alicia with her wine drinking has a plethora of issues to go through including disengaging herself with that black gentleman, issues with her son, mother and others.

Anything will and may be used against her in her run for State Attorney General. In the meantime, her husband, the governor, has issues that could adversely affect her as well.

Disappointing

Hopefully I'm wrong but I feel like the Good Wife is starting to decline after an excellent fifth season. While still a very strong show I've been disappointed with abruptly dropped story lines (Where did Eric Bogosian's character or Melissa George's 'Marilyn Garbanza' go?). Diane seems to be pushed further and further into the background which is tragic and I was reading that Kalinda and Alicia had not shared a scene together in 30 episodes. Not sure if that is true but it certainly has been a very long time since those two have been together. The fifth season started out so exciting with Cary and Alicia starting their own firm but after a few episodes of showing them struggling it seems like the only difference between them and Lockhart/Gardner is the dark gloomy basement setting.

As for this episode where Alicia is pondering running for State's Attorney and all kinds of dirt is being brought up: I just don't understand why they want to go off on this tangent. Unless they picture her being State's Attorney battling her old firm in court. I think it's a mistake and just not interesting. I'm all for the show moving forward but yet another election on the show is not a good direction.

A terrific episode with quite perfect writing.
RyanCShowers18 October 2014
In each season of "The Good Wife", there are episodes I label as "the big episodes", meaning the episodes that hold certain significance in moving the season storyline plot from point A to B, point B to C, and so on. "The Line" emerged at the beginning of the season as a masterpiece, but "Oppo Research" is the first "big" episode of the season, one that centered on Alicia and her candidacy in the state's attorney's race and its some of the finest television you will watch this fall. Written quite perfectly by show's creators, "Oppo Research" tells the events transpired in this episode through an astute structure and displays the best written dialogue in "Good Wife" history. (You'll find dozens of thick, intelligently quotes you will feel compelled to write down.) The actors boom with the brilliant script, Margulies in particular demonstrates her untapped comedy skills with biting sarcasm. "The Good Wife" is on fire, showing no signs of slowing down in the near future. "Oppo Research" is a terrific episode which expertly begins the crux of season 6 and further develops the show's themes of moral ambiguity. It's not about what things are, it's about what things look like.

Grade: A+
