Yes! Finally!
raggedlyhandsome11 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Finally. We got the wedding. Yes! It was amazing. This episode was extraordinary, and I like that the case was connected to the wedding. It wasn't just some case of the week, and then, out of nowhere, the wedding. No, this case made them get married.

Actually, Castle figured out that he couldn't live without Beckett.

He figured that out while he was in the alternate universe. Now, to that. I think it was awesomely done. It wasn't lame at all, and I love how he got to that universe. The moment he was holding the artifact, that can get you to another universe, he thought how Beckett would have a better life without him. And then he got to live that, and I love the ending, where he saved her life. And when he "woke up" he understood, that, what they have, in this life, it's perfect. And nothing is better. So he decided it's time to get married.

And the wedding was beautiful, and I'm glad that Beckett's dad was there too. I just wish Lanie, Javi and Ryan were there too. Because they all together make one big family.

And, also, no matter what universe they're in, Castle is completely incapable of staying in the car.

What a beautiful bride!

Warning: Spoilers
The negative reviews are surprising. Okay, so the parallel universe concept was a bit silly and the relationship sub-plots were corny. But, this is vintage Castle. There have been many crazy and bizarre plot elements before because they suit Castle's persona. That has made Castle so much fun to watch. There are a couple of elements that caught my attention. First, a couple of times Beckett asks Castle why he killed Derrick Storm in the novel "Storm Fall" (which debuted in the first season of 2009). His answer is cut off both times, so we don't know what he was going to say. What this episode (which aired Nov 10, 2014) failed to take into account is that Derrick Storm had been brought back to life in Castle's novel "Storm Front" published in May 2013. This reflects the regrettable failure of the Castle series to consistently track with the published novels.

Another element that I took note of was the sunset over the water in the wedding scene. One reviewer thought it was fake. So did I, or at least I figured that since the series is actually filmed in Los Angeles the sunset was over the Pacific. Well, I was wrong. I found a photograph from a website of an eatery in the Hamptons that is very similar to the scene that was used for Castle's wedding. The whole scene gave the relationship a fairy tale ending. The vows were non-traditional, but then so is the couple. Unfortunately, the fan's curiosity about how the climactic event was planned and executed in just a few hours is not satisfied. Their marriage registration would still have been valid. The officiant was probably a local judge from the Hamptons. So, it was just a matter of grabbing the wedding party and their wardrobe. But, oops, they had time to get Martha, Alexa, and Jim Beckett, so surely they could have informed Esposito, Ryan, Parish and Gates. There's no mention of why their friends were absent. That was no doubt a creative decision by the writer, perhaps even the producer, which made for a sub-plot in the next episode.

And, you have to admit, Beckett is really beautiful in her wedding ensemble.

Oozing Casketty Goodness!
richard-abeysinghe42811 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Warning: SPOILERS! Don't read any further if you haven't watched Ep 7x06.

This was just freaking unbelievably awesome. Brought back sooo many memories of Seasons 1-3 when Castle & Beckett were still dancing around each other. AND that ending just blew our already blissful & saturated minds (from all the preceding Casketty goodness) out the park! – Alternate-Ryan's confused face when his boss Alt-Kate and Rick were in sync while discussing the case despite being strangers was just priceless. – Kate or more exactly Cp. Beckett was totally hot rocking that skirt. Come to think of it we've never seen a skirt-wearing Kate in the precinct! – Did you see Alt-Kate's face when she was secretly reading Derrick Storm late night in the precinct? Epic! So she did read Castle's books, which I thought prior to the episode that she might not have in the alternate reality. – This is as good is it gets for those hardcore Caskett fans who were there right from Season 1, and there is enough Casketty goodness here to last a long long time. My DVR's gonna be busy for a while! Is this the best Castle episode yet? Maybe. Maybe not. Still it sent our hearts a fluttering & I haven't had a grin as wide as I have right now in a long time (since 'Always'?).

Perfection in every way
lalo_patriotas9612 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
How can i start this review of this absolutely brilliant episode... Perfection, could be the word to start this review, and it's not weird. Castle is one of the Top series of much people including me. In 5 years Castle have already make awesome episode, almost touching the perfection. What makes "Times of Our Lives" reach that Perfection... it's simply the episode was "UNEXPECTED". When the episode starts i think that it was just another middle season episode of Castle but how wrong i was. Everything in this episode it's awesome. The way Beckett perform this time was completely brilliant, but with Beckett it's not a new, she has been doing the things right since 5 years. And Castle, what can i say about this guy that have never been said. It's completely perfect for that role, Nathan Fillion seems to be born to perform Richard Castle. And Ryan and Esposito make also good performances, including Martha and Alexis. But, then when i thought nothing could be better, when i thought i had seen everything , that ending blow away my mind, that ending makes me get chills, makes me smile like a freaking idiot by almost a half of our. In conclusion it's a 10 out of 10 for maybe the best episode of Castle ever, and why i say maybe? because i hope more like this in the future

I promise to love you, to be your friend, and your partner in crime and life
sini-2003 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
What amazing episode! I loved the Alternative Universe plot they did, a world of "What if they never met" yet their lives tangled up in the AU, too. I liked how they made it that ecen in the AU they were drawn to each other, even Beckett , and being together. And how it took Castle to realize what he had, how he could not imagine life without her. I think it was perfect way for him to realize what he had in his own world.

Now, the anticipated wedding. I think it was done perfectly aligned with the AU, Castle could not live in a world without her and even they had issues, both wanted more than marry each other. The Hamptons was wonderful venue for it too, and have both of their families there. The vows fit perfectly for each other. It was very beautiful, and their dance as a married couple.

NO, just no
superangelofglory14 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER ALERT! Do not read this unless you have already seen all the episodes! I loved this show since the first episode, but 7x06 was just not right. You don't add SF to Castle and hope it will work! Switching realities? Alien Inca artifacts? That would work for Indiana Jones or the underrated Relic Hunter TV series, but not in a crime series. It just didn't fit. What is next? We find out that Castle was actually abducted on a mother ship? The "Close Encounters Of The Murderous Kinds" episode was brilliant precisely because it offered an Earth-bound explanation to seemingly SF chain of events that climaxed with a murder (3x09). Other previous SF related episodes already raised some questions: the SF convention murder one (5x06) - seriously, a laser gun?- and the time travel episode (6x05) suggesting that the seemingly crazy guy might have actually traveled through time. I wasn't much convinced about 7x03 either, but that isn't totally unrealistic. Although I loved the episodes in the 7th season and the real reason Castle was missing was a nice twist, this one is truly disappointing. And who wrote those vows? The unsold version of Richard Castle from the alternate universe? Plus the sky and clouds wallpaper is such a kitsch fake! A heart-brokenly 1 out of 10 for this episode!

You're kidding, right?
amexspam1 December 2014
The series has followed the inevitable arc of most series. It really should have ended after season 5, but it continues to be milked. This episode was a terrible and completely unbelievable remake of a Jimmy Stewart movie plot (that should be sufficiently vague). The acting is okay, but a rating of 8.0? What IMDb ratings are consistently demonstrating is the flaw of their rating system., Ratings of all shows and movies now result from overly passionate and biased fans or fans that judge the cinema/episode on whether or not they agree with it,or are simply paid lackeys of the networks/studios. The result is a mockery of the ratings because the ratings in no way constitute a representative and knowledgeable survey sample. I no longer rely on any of these ratings and it won't be long before most intelligent viewers will also ignore them.
