While Sammo Hung's The Bodyguard may not have caused much excitement, the next ensemble martial arts film he has in the works already promises a whole lot more. Hung is serving as action director on Benny Chan's Call Of Heroes, a wuxia drama featuring a host of stars from Hong Kong, China and Taiwan - including Louis Koo, Lau Ching Wan, Eddie Peng, Wu Jing and Yuan Quan. Chan's previous work includes The White Storm, Shaolin, Invisible Target and New Police Story, and while it's the first time he'll be working with Taiwanese action star Peng (Unbeatable, Rise Of The Legend) the rest of the cast have all delivered the goods for Chan in the past. In Call Of Heroes, Louis Koo plays the spoilt son...

The great Sammo Hung delivers a great-looking first trailer for The Bodyguard, in which he stars as the titular character. Now in retirement, he has settled down in a small town on the border between Russia and China, where he befriends a young girl whose father (Andy Lau) becomes ensnared with local criminals. When the girl and her father disappear, Sammo must come to the rescue. Hung is both director and action director for the film and it looks as good as his classic work, albeit enhanced a bit more with wires. Still, it promises a tasty chunk of action. The Bodyguard is due for release on April 1. Check out the poster, the trailer, and a previous promotional photo in the gallery below. [Via Film Combat Syndicate...

The Great Wall of China has long been the object of many a man’s admiration. However, if you think you know the reason behind this ancient wonder’s creation, then you ought to prepare for your mind to be blown.
Behind “The Great Wall”
This year, a movie of epic proportions has started production, and it boasts not only of an ambitious concept but also a star-studded cast comprising of some of the most prominent figures from both Hollywood and the Chinese cinema.
Revolving around the majestic Great Wall, the film mashes elements from science fiction and history as it sets up its characters in 15th century China. Where’s the sci-fi in that, you ask? Well, apparently, the “real” reason the Wall was erected is a large-scale, unrecorded invasion of giant mythical creatures—aliens, perhaps? In this grievous battle against the supernatural, humankind opted to fortify its defenses...

Make no mistake about it: Sammo Hung can still kick your ass. That seems to be the general message delivered by the first image from The Bodyguard, an upcoming big budget feature in which Hung serves as both director and action director while also starring alongside Andy Lau. And how welcome is a return by Andy Lau to this sort of high end production after a few years of generally bland output?A retired bodyguard (Sammo Hung) settles down in a small town on the Russia-China border.
