This movie is a spiritual awakening
pietropomella9 October 2020
A film that baffles the human mind and transcends beyond our feeble understanding of reality. Truly one of the filthiest abominations I have ever had the misfortune of witnessing. I now know that God hates us, and to be honest we deserve it.

Just garbage
gianmarcoronconi27 February 2023
We must start by saying that the film sucks but it sucks terribly for several reasons, one more terrible and stupid than the other. Meanwhile, the film makes no sense and looks like a very long sequence of scenes without the slightest sense pasted badly to arrive at an acceptable film length, and this obviously suggests that the plot does not have the slightest logical thread and in fact it is so, the plot is stupid and without apparent sense and the moments that seem to follow a logical thread are very few and last too little to make sense of the entire film. Another fundamental point are the horrendous special effects, unacceptable for a 2019 film. Finally, the acting is something inconceivable. In conclusion I must say that I have rarely seen such a terrible kind of garbage.

Childish and stupid
baldasarri7 February 2023
A movie that doesn't to make sense to exist; there's no plot, the script is poorly written, from character development to the themes tackled. We are often witness to scenes that are completely disconnected from each other. In theory, there are villains who control the world, okay? However, they are never introduced to us, we don't know their goals or why they do what they do. Throughout the movie, we are thrown back and forth and, to make matters worse, it's filled with a mixture of confusing new age theories, aliens, government, and religious conspiracies that, if taken separately, could have made sense. The director is making their first film and it shows; only someone who knows nothing about cinema wouldn't see the problems with shot/reverse shot, which is incredibly annoying. The special effects range from decent to 1999 standards, nothing is saved.

Really disappointed
marcoquint-1821016 October 2020
I waited a long time for this film, hoping that Italy could finally propose something valid and of a genre that it has now forgotten, science fiction. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the movie. While watching it I had the impression of seeing a badly made fan movie. Bad acting (except for famous actors), disastrous dialogue, amateur editing, discreet special effects in some places but still with that homemade flavor. This film confirms to the whole world how Italy is no longer capable of making beautiful films, except for a few exceptions. This is my biggest disappointment.

So bad... it's bad.
giovannigugliantini31 May 2023
By far, the worst crap I ever happened to watch. It's past "so bad it's good", goes full round to "so bad its awful".

Plot (sic!) is non exixtent, a serie of scenes related only by recurring actors. Characters are thinner than cardboard. Dialogues range from primary to junior high school level, with all kids high and no adult present. Special effects are amateurish at best.

I got to the end only because I was sorta paralyzed in horror, a sort of snake-bird like charm, a lovecraftian abyss.

What baffles me is the amount of positive reviews I found. To preserve sanity and trust in human race, I have to tell myself they're probably all fake accounts, conspirationists nuts or certified cases.

Only positive aspect: it's only 1 hour and 1/2.

Advice for the potential viewer: don't.

Seriously. Life is short, nobody will give you back those 90 minutes.

One of the worst movie I've ever seen, for a lot of reasons
albertogaloppini11 October 2020
I have hardly ever seen so much trash, dreadful CGI, inconclusiveness, miserable recitation and nonsense screenplay in a movie which from the trailer seemed interesting. A bad mocking of a number of american movies, with a bit Italian-season conspirationism and an editing which makes even more unintelligible the yet quite delirious plot. At half duration I couldn't wait the movie to finish, as anything hardly happens; in the theater someone even went away before. I can't blame too much for the visual effects, but I'm also sure that in order to write a decent plot, a Hollywood-size budget is not required at all.

let's see how it goes on
riccardoantonietti11 November 2020
The film confuses the viewer leaving more doubts than certainties because many interpretations are ambiguous and only the second part will eliminate some doubts.

Soundtrack
mogginsdm21 December 2022
My only criticism would be that the incredible vocals of Dimash Qudaibergen were not mentioned in the credits. The OST was incredible and I hope to hear this amazing voice do more movie soundtracks.

The special effects were on point and it's such a shame that this didn't get the airtime it deserved because of the closure of cinemas due to the global pandemic.

I'm a long time fan of William Shatner since the days of Star Trek and it's a treat to see him play something slightly quirky.

All in all a very enjoyable film, with a fantastic soundtrack well on the same level with John Williams and Hans Zimmer.

Creators:The Past
teresaleonardi20 December 2022
I state that i'm not a fan of the genre but this film intrigued me because I love Italian cinema. The film explores worlds of infinite resoures, space, time, air, earth. There are symbolisms, elements for thought on the nature of the world, of the human soul. The plot (perhaps sometimes the thread is lost a bit) is pressing, it captures you and ignites the imagination. I liked the scenography, the photography, the actors, the costumes, the voice actors, the music that characterizes every single scene (the final song by Dimash Qudaibergen is wonderful)..An interesting film that I would see again..

It has been quite a surprise
stellablu-2632520 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It has been quite a surprise since the beguin, since the first trailer show. Interesting reference to the unknoable world of super beings, wich have come on the big screen from the MARVEL comics for the most. The story is an absolute ONE TIME show and unique, Seems that in some aggiustement post productiones the Italian censuring for " no no " arguments has reduce the lenght and stopped frames and shenes in some degree. At the and of the story I liked it and i look forward for the next chapter...CREATORS THE PRESENT. A PARTICULAR MENTION needs to be made about the cast. Wow, it is amazing an the movie is for sure far more better than some well known fantasy movie., bui we all knowit... if behind the production there are big money and large TV visibility, even the wors can be a success. Great movie, like nothig already on the list.

Wow...in a bad way
mikemoreno-1422513 January 2024
Terrible, poor story telling, incoherent, confused and bad acting. The premises of the story could have had potential, however due to the poor dialog, lack of character development, very ropey plot, far too many sub stories, the whole movie was difficult to follow and uninteresting. It seemed that the creators had a number of ideas, but struggled to put them together into a coherent story. I believe there was some sort of ending, but at that point I had lost interest and was hoping that the LENS would end it all. Unfortunately the time I have lost watching, I will never get back, but alas that was my own fault as the trailer did hint at B movie.

An All-Italian Colossal
lifethetightrope20 December 2022
A Colossal worthy of note as an all-Italian mega production, spectacular, with impeccable CGI effects worthy of American filmmakers. A prophetic Film in that through fantastic visions it tells us about the present day, what we are still living through: the pandemic, mental manipulation, awareness (not of all unfortunately, not yet), the risk of a third world war. Masterful performances not only as expected from now established actors, but also from lesser known ones such as Eleonora Fani, who not only wrote the screenplay, but played the role of Lady Airre, a key character in my opinion and emblematic. I also add my praise to the Director. Piergiuseppe Zaia, pride I would say at this point in Italian cinema. An all-Italian Colossal.

Watch more than once
NGIW7721 December 2022
Well, after seeing the trailer I was triggered.

I didn't know what to expect from an Italian fantasy movie. I don't want to reveal to much...

The film has great actors, costumes, beautiful details and a complex plot. The images and scenography are stunning. Fairytale Fantasy.

Watching it once left me confused and with many questions, therefore I saw it a second time. The movie takes you on a journey and inspires to reflect. I recommend watching it and look forward to part 2 and 3.

Furthermore I want to add that the movie's Soundtrack is amazing, the masterful compositions complete the atmospheric scenario.

I would like to see it again
marikanese20 December 2022
This movie is like a dream. When you finished to watch it you are unable to remember well all the details but you can feel the emotions that it rise up inside you.

The movie will surprise you is totally unconventional, some times naïf but very interesting. The characters in the movie are like in a fairy tale story, some times they are looking exactly like in a fantasy fairy tale.

The movie is watching the world more grime the aliens point of view. The earth is just a background.

The plot of the movie is very intricate and this is the reason I would like to see it again, and also I would be happy to see a second episode.

Simply amazing!
smerzi20 December 2022
I had read the book, and I have to admit the movie is even better!!! It feels like being there, and the special effects are outstanding. I wish they had an IMAX 3d version I could watch at the movies. I even loved the soundtrack, his voice is heavenly.

The story is prophetic. How did they know about the pandemic and imminent 3rd world war?

It is interesting to see that even in the movie truth is being held from the general population.

Being an independent movie, I am shocked to see how the special effects are done so well, and actors like Gerard Depardieu, and Bruce Payne are playing major roles.

My favorite actor is Eleonora Fani playing the role of Lady Airre. This movie is a MUST WATCH and I can't believing was not released to the international counties yet. I watched it in theaters in Italy.

As a comedy it works pretty well
just_an_italian_lad21 October 2020
Creators: the past had a good premise and also a good potential , however the final result is very disappointing. In fact for the initial 35-40 minutes I laughed like an idiot because I wasn't able to understand what was happening . This film has also a very bad CGI and the potential of the incredible cast is totally wasted. The only good thing in this film are the musics and the makeup .In conclusion this film tries to get too many things done well obtaining a very poor result .

I'm surprised !
gretarobbioo20 December 2022
A film with a captivating plot, the special effects are very well done, in my opinion it is a film to watch above all because it is Italian, it is a genre that I have never seen in Italy, I am sincerely surprised! Plus there are some great actors. The characters' outfits are also fantastic!! All done with great care. To be appreciated even bad music that made me emotional. I really liked the singer who sings at the end of the movie, during the credits, great extension and he's a nice guy too! However, I can't find it on any platform and I would like to see it again with my children I would say 9 out of 10.

Fantastic
mattiatarello21 December 2022
Yes, I gave 10 stars because they had the courage to make a film like this, with important content, in a society that blocks in every way anyone who tries to tell the truth or even just to express their thoughts, so a big round of applause.

Furthermore, a genre that I really like, science fiction, where it is often used to convey messages that could not be said otherwise... A cast of a certain calibre, and there is also Dolby Atmos, which for audio lovers like me is really important.

What can I say, I sincerely hope that they can also continue with the other chapters, because in this way Italy too can boast more important films than those that are usually produced.

Visuals
TTRLaura21 December 2022
I love the fiction features and visual effects. The colors, the characters, the spaces, the visions, all scenarios are curated into the smallest detail. Real visual art.

Very captivating story telling. Eventhough I remained with a few doubts. I should watch Creators the past again.

Another highlight is definitely the music, both film and music by Piergiuseppe Zaia, my compliments. Top Soundtrack.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's the only science fiction movie "Made in Italy" so far. Therefore my compliments also for the courage to produce such a film which the audience would normally only associate with Hollywood.

Unique and original
saradurando21 December 2022
In this science fiction film, what I liked the most were many scenes, including: Castel Savoia and the swarm of mosquitoes, the scene in the crypt with Nathan, the initial scene where the child Sofy is captured by the alien light, the scene in Lady Airre's house, very particular with those windows overlooking the space. Not to mention the music with seventy-eight bravos all created with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and with double the special effects used in the film Avatar, where it was shot in 5K.

The actors in this film are internationally renowned Gerard Depardieu, Captain Kirk (star treck) William Shartner and Bruce Payne.

Amazing
niklila20 December 2022
Fantastic film, full of special effects, and for an Italian film it is the first and only one of its kind.

The make-up of the protagonists made in the smallest details is very innovative, furthermore the clothes of the characters seem made to measure for each protagonist.

The gripping storyline always keeps you in suspense and grabs your attention.

The part of the soundtrack is the one that moved me the most, it is perfectly connected to the scene you are seeing on the screen and gives you much more emotions.

The singer who sings over the credits is very good and leaves you breathless.

Amazing.

I REALLY APPRECIATE THIS MOVIE
alfonsiantonio22 December 2022
I was courious to watch this movie, since I saw the first trailer. My curiosity has been satisfied.

The first time that I saw this film I was at the cinema and at the end of film, the entire the audience started clapping, including me!

I very appreciated the amazing cast, like William Shatner, Gerard Depardieu ecc., and of course the way of playing of the new actors.

I was struck by the beauty of the soundtracks because they were a perfect accompaniment to each scene; in particular I loved the final song, which accompanied the end credits with the particular voice of Dimash Kudaibergen.

I hope you can watch Creators the Past as soon as possible!

An intriguing movie!
stellamont-120 December 2022
This movie is very interesting. The plot is thought-provoking and enigmatic, built from an apparently simple premise: the existence of interplanetary beings that govern the universe.

The performances are the highlight of this film: Eleonora Fani, Jennifer Mischiati, Bruce Payne and Per Fredrik Åsly in the lead roles are quite convincing. If you're a fan of Gérard Depardieu like I am, you'll enjoy seeing his cameo, as well as William Shatner's.

And as I am a person who loves movie soundtracks, I cannot fail to highlight the beauty of the instrumental music and the originality of the song that ends the film (you can find the complete soundtrack on Amazon and on other music platforms).
