The "Turtle Power" boost (all four Turtles make a combined assault on an opponent) is based on the buck-buck maneuver the Turtles make against the Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014).
A Purple Dragon (probably deliberately) mistakes the Turtles for frogs. This is a homage to the Punk Frogs, a quartet of mutant frog warriors who became allies to the Turtles.
The graffiti seen on the background walls mentions the names of TMNT villains:
- the word "Shred" - the Shredder, the Turtles' archnemesis and leader of the Foot Clan
- a man's head with insect eyes - Baxter Stockman, a scientist who mutated into a half-fly hybrid
- a rat with the word "King" - the Rat King, a mutant who can control rats.
From the voice cast in this film, Cam Clarke voiced Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987), Danny Woodburn voices Splinter in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and André Sogliuzzo voiced a monster in TMNT (2007).
