Taylor in top form

"Magic, madness, heaven, sin... Cherry lips, crystal sky, I could show you incredible things... I can make the bad guys good for a weekend..." Taylor in sultry mode. Glad to report that she doesn't disappoint in this one. Standout lyrics. Some of the (deranged) images are, like, way, way, way over the top for her fans, but it is clear from her videos that Taylor wants to be an actress, and here she gets the opportunity to let fly with spiteful rage. More than just a bit of a vindictive psycho, "a nightmare dressed as a daydream," indeed! Killer legs, but also in a killer mood. A tigress to beware of...! The image with the blood-red apple is particularly striking. Great directing and a superb performance, not sure if the poor car would agree.

A classy music video that ticks all the boxes, catchy song, beautiful cinematography, and a manic T Swift. I'm not a swiftie, but I can vibe to this video.

Warning: Spoilers
This is the music video for Taylor Swift's "Blank Space", a great hit she had last year. There is something to all of her music videos I like. They usually tell a story and more than just a collection of special effects. Another strength of her is that her voice is so unique that it's never only the chorus that stays in mind which is the case for most of her competition, but it's the entire song in my opinion. The director here is Joseph Kahn and he is top of the bunch right now in terms of music video directors. Experience pays off for everybody involved and this music video becomes a success. It's also about a topic many can relate to. Swift's character was cheated on and now she takes revenge on her boyfriend. Really all the ingredients in here that it needed to become a hit. Certainly one of the best music videos from last year, but as this is a film website, I have to use higher standards for my rating. Still, I recommend it.
