Filmed in one of Ireland's most haunted houses, Loftus Hall.
The basic plot has many similarities to Edgar Allen Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher" (1939), for example: three main characters, a sister and brother, and a young man; the remote dilapidated manor-like house, incestuous relationships (spanning generations), the brothers sick appearance, suggestions of an unnamed "curse", and the sibling's life being connected to the house.
All of the three lead cast were excellent swimmers and performed their own underwater stunts
The idea came for the film when David Turpin, used to imagine ghosts taking over his house at night when he went to bed.
Both writer David Turpin and Director Brian O'Malley are also musicians. In fact, David Turpin composed the theme music.
