On their drive to the motel Sullivan Hill and Eve Thorogood talk about the Bruce Springsteen album "Nebraska" (1982). Hill says how much he liked it as a kid and Eve tells him that her father, who had just been murdered, felt the same way. A few scenes later Eve bids farewell to her family at the memorial site, set up at the scene of the crime, by singing an a capella version of Springsteen's "I'm on Fire". The song is not included on "Nebraska" though, but on its 1984 follow-up "Born in the U.S.A.".

When Mick is stapling his trophy to the wall there is a photo of a couple who bear a striking resemblance to Peter Falconio and Joanne Lees. Falconio was murdered and Lees abducted by Bradley Murdoch, one of the people Mick Taylor was based upon (the other being Ivan Milat).
