(at around 33 mins) When Joe Blake spots the police car approaching the truck door is open, in the next wide angle shot the truck door has closed.
The strap of Frank's tank top is visible right after we see him take it off.
(at around 20 mins) Juliana is shown to be repeatedly watching a film. The projector is shown with reels missing and she is shown snapping on the top real multiple times. This may be just to give you the sense that she is impulsively replaying the film, but it is not how those projectors work. The reels never are taken off in this situation because you rewind from the take-up reel, back up to the original reel. If you were to just switch reels, you would be watching the film in reverse. Until you change to a different film, there is no need to remove either reel.
When at Rikers island Prison, an SS officer is wearing a Tan Desert uniform with SS Runes and rank insignia. An SS officer not on combat duty in North Africa would not be wearing this uniform esp in New York city. This color uniform was mainly used by Field Marshal Erwin Rommel's Afrikakorps in North Africa during the war. The same SS officer is also wearing a Wehrmacht (Army) hat with the crest and bullseye and not the SS Deaths Head Skull. No SS officer would wear a Wehrmacht cap and insignia.
(at around 40 mins) The German captain's of the Secret Service at Hirohito Airport's Identity-Card reads "Das Grobe Nazi Reich" which a) translates as the " The Crude Nazi Empire" - factual error: using "B" instead of the German "SS", probably as a result of "capitalizing" the lowercase-only "ß" (double "s") in "Groß(e)". Possible factual error as the German Third Reich was titled the "Großdeutsche Reich" (two words, not three) or "Großdeutschland" (one word). But then, since the whole thing happens in the occupied US, this alternative seems possible, just as the following objection:
A German Identity Card printed with an English spelling title ("captain" instead of German "Hauptmann" or "Kapitän").
In every episode virtual every character is a Chain Smoker. It is a very well known Fact the Nazi and Nippon governments passed very stringent laws forbidding Smoking!
Germans only became Heavy smokers after ww2 because the USA dropped millions of cartons 9n cigarettes across Germany plus by being a highly visible smoker after the Nazi downfall... it was a pejorative statement of disassociation with the Nazi Party.
If the most technologically advanced peoples since the Piezoelectric Pyramid builders... had Actually had the resources and Won - smoking tobacco would not exist.
Why do every studio that makes a Nazi film or series... always get this Huge Fact Wrong?
It is only second to every Hollywood film/TV, showing High Speed Trains with only One set of tracks and nil OLE to power the trains. Trains require a up and down...to and from set of tracks to prevent head on collisions. Fact is most are built with a minimum of Four sets of tracks. To/from with limited stops plus to/from calling at most stations.
Police officer is shown wearing the SS runes on his uniform. In reality, although the Police fell under command of the SS and Himmler, their uniforms had their own insignia and not SS Runes. The Police commanders did however use the same rank badges as the Waffen SS.
The german word "Edelweiss" in the Title song is pronounced wrong, sounding like "Edelwaisch" (it is correctly pronounced like s in "singing"). It is unclear if this was done on purpose for some reason, but as there is no further reference to it it sounds like a mistake.
Joe's truck is a private vehicle from NYC, and the state trooper's is from another state, but the license plates are only 6 digits off.
Historically, when the Germans established SS groups in occupied countries (such as Belgium, the Netherlands, and Norway), these indigenous SS units would adopt SS ranks but translated into their own native language. In the series, we see an American SS which wears modified swastika armbands (with red and white stripes) as well as a different type of headgear with an Army wreath instead of the German Death's Head. This is most likely to stress that that the American SS units are an independent group from the regular SS in Germany. Thus, as with all such SS units in other countries the Nazis occupied, the ranks should be translated into their native language (English) meaning that "Obergruppenführer" would be referred to as a "Senior Group Leader", "Hauptsturmführer" as a "Head Storm Leader", etc. Calling the Americans by German rank titles would actually go against the standard practice for national SS units which was adopted by the Germans.
The orange Nehi bottles drunk by Joe and Juliana/Trudy outside the Sunrise Cafe have paper labels with the now-current Nehi logo. If Nehi existed at all in this universe, in 1962, the Nehi logo either would have been molded into the glass of the bottle itself, or the label would have been painted on. In any of those cases, the logo would have contained plain lettering only spelling out "NEHI".
Trudy's ticket from San Francisco, California, to Canon City, Colorado, used the state abbreviations "CA" and "CO." These abbreviations were devised by the US Post Office and first published in 1963. The story takes place in 1962, and given the divergent history, especially with the United States being split into two separate satellite nations of the occupying powers, it is unlikely that these abbreviations would ever have been devised even in 1963.
(at around 53 mins) The ring tone from a touch-tone phone is heard. Touch tone was invented in 1963 and would not have been used commonly in payphones until much later.
Canned drinks did not have snap tabs in 1962.
Canon City in the Neutral Zone is repeatedly pronounced as "cannon." The real town in Colorado is actually pronounced as "canyon" because of the nearby Royal Gorge and is correctly spelled "Cañon City." Most maps delete the tilde over the first "n," however.
(at around 23 mins) The map showing the path of the truck traveling across the country incorrectly positions the dot for Charleston, West Virginia about 100 miles northeast of the correct location. The dot is positioned approximately where Weston, West Virginia is located.
Near the beginning of the episode at the bar.
