A family is not just limited to blood relation
A hallmark of a good storyteller is making the audience empathize or pull them into the shoes of the central character. Jake and the Giants is one of those movies. The plot of the movie is too touchy. The full length animated film Jake and the Giants centers around a twelve year old boy Jake and his twin sister Joanie from the Village of Shiloh. When Jake realize Giants attacked his village and took his mom and dad, Jake he leave the home to search a way to rescue his mom and dad. With no help coming from their neighbors the young siblings turn to a wizened owl, albatross and band of beavers for help.
A strong message in this film is that a family is not just limited to blood relation; you have friends, who become part of that. This movie isn't comedy, it does have a bit of an emotional side to it which I won't go into too much detail about. However the people who didn't read the comics confuse me when they say it's "Cliché" "awful" "boring". I found none of these things in the movie at all. I was smiling right from the beginning and found myself a little teary-eyed towards the end.
So I do recommend this movie if you're up for a nice light movie with a lot of laughs: it might be better than you think.
