It Never Stops to Impress Me
ahmad_nadal2 February 2017
What this series do in me, is that it makes me fully satisfied but for an anonymous reason I just want more and more and more. It is a well-made episode, it takes us more inside the true madness of James Delaney ( Tom Hardy) and it made me feel that there is more than true madness behind this person, there is love, there is fear, there is secret, there is more. That's what makes me need more of that.

The directing was amazing as always also the acting and the writing, I was afraid that they may take too much time in some stories but they nearly finished an important one in this episode and that comforted me.

I just want to thank Jefferson Hall for his performance in this episode as (Thorne Geary) which was very respectable.

My rating for this episode is 9/10.

This is how you hook a viewer into a show.

People need to remind themselves that besides anything related to history in this show there's art and there's fiction first, and this episode certainly delivered it the way it should be. It's something rare to watch an episode that really gets you hooked into the story, but this one does.

Before this episode I was a little bit confused to where the show was going, but the picture starts to get a little bit clearer as this episode ends, Delaney has no friends, very few people he can truly count on as allies, but the man has no friends and the only thing keep him alive is himself and a multitude of deals he made with his enemies.

Despite being in trouble many times since the first episode, Delaney seems to always have things under control and manages to always be one step ahead of everyone, which is very unique compared to other shows on TV and their protagonists, a somewhat different way to approach the storyline and keeping it interesting.

I don't know if this is going to be the only review I make of this show and my opinion might even change as I finish the season, but this one right here so far is a winner, one of the last good stories TV has to offer these days.

"I have a use for you."

(197-word review) My immediate impression of this episode was that the score was way more prominent than usual. I swear every other scene had music playing. And it was great. That likely played a significant part in making this episode seem the most atmospheric one thus far.

Despite only a tiny bit of plot progression again, expectedly, as this show is a slow-burn, it was undoubtedly better than previous episodes, which, in hindsight, were somewhat erratic in their structure; this one came across as more concise. But more generally, it seemed more engaging: we got an episode drowned in the score, the introduction of Cholmondeley (another central character for the season's remainder), a fight sequence, a robbery, and naturally, more back-and-forth moves of intellect, for political purposes and negotiation, that continue to come back to a progressional standstill.

There was, more or less, "something different" about this episode. And whatever it was (possibly the indication and feeling of everything in motion, ready to boil over) probably contributed to making it this season's best up to this point, which, from what I've read by some people variously on the internet, is a common sentiment. This show continues to be entertaining.

I'm waiting on season two,as if I'm waiting to open a Christmas gift on Christmas morning like a toddler. I totally enjoyed season 1 and will be so excited to see season 2 in the US. This show was great from beginning to end,and the acting was great. Please release season two for the US,especially during this time of covid.

It started out intriguing and very well written

Warning: Spoilers
but alas it seems hell bent on meandering into a salacious pit of depravity that does nothing to explain or enhance the plot. Ex. - the trollop whose sent to the fat guard in charge of protecting the armory of the East India Company's warehouse. The rank and file guards are dealt with through murder but not not him, will not exactly right away nooo instead we have the simulated act of a 'Lewinsky' being given him AND then comes the murder. There are other instances of unrelenting violence that detract from the machinations of the East India Co., the USA and the Court of George IV.

I certainly hope Scott and the others have something far more focused in Episode 5
