Hollywood lost a real gem when Heath Ledger passed away in 2008. In the few years he had on this planet, the legendary actor was able to bring out the best in the film industry with his performances in films like 10 Things I Hate About You and Brokeback Mountain. He was a part of a total of 18 movies, two of which were released after his untimely demise.
Heath Ledger as Patrick Verona in 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
Heath Ledger’s most memorable performance has to be that of the Joker in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. Unfortunately, the actor could not see the outcome of his hard work as he passed away shortly before the film’s release.
Recalling his time working with Heath Ledger on The Dark Knight, Eric Roberts opened up about how the legendary actor was completely different than what he initially expected.

The Joker, the most complicated supervillain in DC Comics, has already frightened and impressed fans with Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal. His dramatic transformation into the failed comedian-turned-sadistic clown is terrifying, even from the trailer, with his bony frame and that terrifying cackle. Beyond his extraordinary acting prowess that earned him an Oscar, Phoenix’s life is full of fascinating details that have captured the public’s interest.
In fact, he has overcome many personal obstacles, experienced many unusual things, and lived a life firmly committed to his moral convictions. Did you know Phoenix had played the Joker before he was cast as the twisted clown?

A bit more than ten years ago, Phoenix, 49, caused a public breakdown by tricking everyone into thinking he was giving up acting to pursue a career in rap. As it turned out, it was all staged for his mockumentary flick,...

Actor Joaquin Phoenix has cemented his legacy as one of the film industry’s most skilled actors in projects like Joker and Gladiator. But Phoenix asserted that he’s also one of his own worst critics when it comes to movie-making.

Many have praised Phoenix for his on-screen acting abilities. He’s even recently won an Academy Award for Best Actor thanks to his contributions to Joker. But Phoenix hasn’t always had the same confidence in his own skills. His critiques were one of the reasons why he couldn’t stand watching himself in films.
“I feel I’m guilty of trying too hard to make sure you understand,” Phoenix once said according to South China Morning Post.
Still, Phoenix tried to watch himself in films a few times. But he typically had the same reaction.

Joaquin Phoenix plays a hapless middle-aged man on a tortuous journey to see his mum in the Midsommar director’s three-hour black comedy of Oedipal angst
Ari Aster, the American writer-director of Hereditary and Midsommar, describes his sprawlingly picaresque third feature as a three-hour “anxiety comedy” – an archly surreal “odyssey of sorts” that is also an “elaborate Jewish joke” inspired by Greek plays and Kafka-esque paranoia. A rambling, labyrinthine, navel-gazing romp, it has narrative echoes of Tristram Shandy (both Sterne’s novel and Michael Winterbottom’s film) and an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink aesthetic reminiscent of the chaotic Cinerama comedy It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Personally, I think Beau Is Afraid is best described as an amusingly patience-testing shaggy dog story that asks: “What if your mother could hear all those unspeakable things you tell your therapist?” Parts of it are hilarious. Other sections sag. Some will find it insufferable.

Rissi Palmer had a brief brush with the country-music mainstream in 2007 when her song “Country Girl” made it onto Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Its success makes her one of only three Black women, alongside Linda Martell and Mickey Guyton, to have ever achieved the feat with a solo recording.
“If that doesn’t tell you everything that you need to know about the business, I don’t know what to say,” Palmer says in the opening moments of her new documentary Still Here, which begins airing March 24 at 9 p.

Sumi Choi’s origin story starts quietly. “I could barely speak when I was four years old,” she says. “But I did sing, and I would sing this very sad song. I was a sad kid.” There’s a pleasant candor that permeates a conversation with Choi, 34, and the rest of the Busan, South Korea-based quartet Say Sue Me. Even across Zoom, and with assistance from an interpreter, it’s evident that the cozy surf rock that has brought them an international audience is rooted in their appealing, easygoing attitudes.

"All we see are walls. But what these walls contain, all of our memories, what our parents passed down to us..." Still Here is a stunning short film directed by Taiwanese-American filmmaker Sean Wang, and it already won a Sundance Ignite award last year. It also was chosen as the Best Doc of the Year by one of our favorite sites Short of the Week, and they've just put it up on their YouTube to watch. "Still Here was filmed in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in the village where my grandmother lived, my mother grew up, and where I spent my childhood summers," Sean explains. He returns to investigate why their village has been abandoned, and why they still decided to stay. It's a beautifully-shot, moving film that acts as rumination on gentrification and changes between generations. And how much stays the same. This is worth taking 10 minutes to watch. Thanks to...

New Delhi, March 6 (Ians) Last year, the imposition of lockdown put a pause on the release of film music, pushing people towards the independent/non-film music, which in the pre-Covid times was, arguably, the secondary source of listening to music for most Indians.
A year later the scene has changed. Music channels, the streaming space as well as social media is overflowing with non-Bollywood music. Artistes would tell you they need to continue making music. The music labels affirm there is always an audience for art and entertainment, never mind lockdown. Both ways, artistes confined to their homes got busy creating music on laptops. The outcome was a sizeable repertoire of original sound.
"I think an artiste never stops making art if it is truly what they live for. I think constantly creating new music is like second nature for me and even if nobody hears it,...

New Delhi, March 2 (Ians) Delhi-based rapper Krsna's "Still Here" is his first full-length album in over seven years. He says a majority of the songs on the album were written during lockdown last year.
"The last album I put out was in 2014, so I thought it was about time I put another project out, since my listeners were constantly asking for more music," says the 31-year-old rapper.
"A lot of the songs in the album were songs I wrote during lockdown. So, some of them are very introspective and were written at a time when we really didn't know what was going on in the world, and there was uncertainty about when we would be able to go out again," says Krsna.
Krsna insists that the album doesn't have a common concept that binds all the tracks together.

For emerging filmmakers hoping to take the next step in their artistic and professional journey, finding a community of like-minded creators is crucial. With this goal in mind, Adobe has partnered with Sundance Institute on the Sundance Ignite x Adobe Fellowship program which, since 2015, has provided mentorship and support to promising filmmakers early in their careers. With an eye toward elevating underrepresented voices, the fellowship enables the next generation of creatives by offering an opportunity to share their stories with the world.
This year, as a presenting sponsor of the Sundance Film Festival, Adobe launched a short spot highlighting the work of four Sundance Institute alumni, which was co-directed and edited by 2018 Sundance Ignite x Adobe Fellow Carol Nguyen. The vignette, titled “When I Tell the Story,” epitomizes the importance of giving new filmmakers a platform to share their work and their voice. “When I tell the story, it’s dark and glittery.

The physical experience of the cinema in 2020 has been a fragmented stop and start scenario. Not being able to visit the cinema has been discouraging, but in putting this mix together I was reminded, pandemic aside, there have been new movies worth getting excited about and distinctive music and sounds to accompany them. Over the 1 hour, 39 minute run time this mix stops and starts in different mood zones, symmetrical to the year it represents. Between pieces of original score and soundtrack are voices and sounds, sometimes of hope, sometimes more sinister. Meandering in pace, this mix is a snapshot of feelings, as quickly as they come they move into different territory. We open with extracts from Garrett Bradely’s Time, these echoes of childhood and family swirl forward years as if inside a sonic time capsule. We hear voices weave in and out, “lots of things changed since the beginning of this tape.

"Each day that passes I can feel her getting further away from me..." Blue Fox Ent. has released an official trailer for an indie mystery drama titled Still Here, marking the feature directorial debut of Romanian-American filmmaker Vlad Feier. Set in New York City, the film is about the heartbreaking story of a twelve year old missing girl and the pain of her family. Following a journalist who is assigned the story, risking his career and his own life taking the matter into his own hands. Based on true events. The film stars Johnny Whitworth, Maurice McRae, Afton Williamson, Larry Pine, Jeremy Holm, and Zazie Beetz. This looks so very tragic and heartbreaking, the somber score in this trailer really bringing out all the emotions. English composer Rachel Portman today releases her first solo album. Titled “Ask the River,” it’s a collection of original pieces for piano, violin and cello that reflect her feelings about our fragile environment.
That the release happens to come in the middle of a global pandemic is coincidental, but it also couldn’t be more timely. Portman’s music conjures up images of a pastoral English countryside: warm and breezy, cool and contemplative, green fields and babbling brooks.
“I had spent a lot of time immersed in nature, and I wanted to try and express that,” she says from her country home 50 miles outside of London, “and express the beauty of what I see as many, many different aspects of nature around us. We’re increasingly unconnected to the natural world. We don’t seem to be part of the land; we seem to use it as a resource instead.
