Absolutely charming episode
katemiller-180832 August 2016
I was looking for a show that would cheer me up on those days that were just a bit much, when I was rowing up the actual shit's creek without a paddle. This season finale well and truly delivered.

From the storyline of the parent's anniversary, we got to see both the past and present lives of the Rose family come together, and witness a positive change in their outlook of their situation. The awkward dinner became a moment of triumph for the Roses and the residents of Schitt's Creek over the snobby former friends.

I also noticed the subtle changes in Alexis' naivete/narcissism in how she was able to compare Ted's reaction to her hooking up with Mutt after their breakup, to the appearance of Mutt's new girlfriend on the scene. I do love Alexis' character's kookiness, but when you're watching a series like this it's nice to have a little bit of realistic character growth, even if they do jump straight back into their previous kooky ways.

Lost a mark for not being long enough. :)

Precious love
blanche-230 October 2017
James Morrison's fantastic song, "Precious Love" helped to bring the last episode of season 2 to a triumphant close.

Johnny and Moira go to a nice restaurant for their anniversary and run into two old friends from their upper-class days. Meanwhile, Jocelyn and Roland show up because they have a coupon. Naturally, they wind up at the table with Johnny, Moira, and their old friends.

What transpires is a wonderful scene, the best of the series, which marks a change in attitude in Johnny and Moira. Eugene Levy is absolutely marvelous.

The kids, David and Alexis, attend a party -- and some interesting things happen there too.

It all winds up with "Precious Love." Precious indeed.

Turning Point for the Show
scottman-4760123 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've watched Schitt's Creek all the way through a few times and I honestly believe that this is one of the best episodes in the series. I already enjoyed the show prior to this point, but I felt like this was the episode that turned it from a good show into a great show.

The scene at dinner with Johnny sticking up for Roland and Jocelyn was satisfying and marked a significant moment of character growth as he realized where his priorities should have been all along.

The scene at the end with the family dancing together was the first time we really started to see the love that they have for one another when they're not blinded by what they've lost and are able to focus on what they have. We also saw some character growth for Alexis during her interaction with Ted.

The show was not the same after this episode. This episode transformed the rest of the show moving forward.

The Best
Hitchcoc22 February 2021
This is a breakthrough episode where the stuffy Roses (who have no right to be) begin to realize what kindness and love are. It is the Rose's anniversary and they turn down an invitation from the Roland and Jocelyn to go to dinner in another town. They are so smug and pompous. Then Johnny, desperate to save the anniversary, gets a reservation at the same restaurant. There, they meet a couple they knew before things fell apart. What happens after is very touching and up lifting. A great final show of the second season. Mutt is having a party at his barn and there are lots of things that portend a good deal of fun in the future.

This is the episode that changed everything

Warning: Spoilers
This is the episode I consider to have changed the series for the better and made it the gem it is. It has incredible character growth for all the characters and changed this show from just a fish out of water scenario. The scene at the restaurant when Johnny tells off his old friends and speaks so highly of Roland and Jocelyn always brings me to tears. Alexis shows her growth when she realizes how hard it must have been for Ted is a really turning point.. But the best is the end when they all tell each other they love each other and David's face with a smile and tears, it is so heartwarming..

Anniversary and Party
vivianla5 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It is the Roses anniversary and the kids say the family whose kids threw a party for their parents is too close - what kind of family skinny dips together?! Moira tells her kids they sound like the incestuous family.

Jocelyn and Roland come by their table inviting them for dinner with their coupon. The Roses tell them it's their anniversary and Johnny says in relief that was a close call.

At the restaurant Johnny has booked last minute but pretended he booked before, the Roses meet old friends who dropped off their kid to college. The Schitts show up and are offended to see the Roses spending time with another couple. The Roses offer them a place at the table.

Johnny smoothens everything telling his friend he never contacted him after he lost his money while the Schitts offered them a place and their vehicle. They live in that town they are laughing about.

Alexis shows up to Mutt's party in a white dress and beautiful makeup and hair. Mutt looks her over saying she looks good.

Stevie shows up saying she has a high school reputation she has to live up to.

David has a man interested in him and they kiss behind the barn. The man looks gruff but in a handsome way.

The Schitts and Roses show up at the party.
