Sex & Nudity

  • The side mission involving a cult mentions the "seed of the Blessed (their savior)" as well as giving into the flesh. Cult members are talked about to have sex to continue the bloodline (nothing is shown at all) It is also implied the cult's high priest raped a cult member to "continue his bloodline."
  • One of the downtown missions of the storyline involves stealing blackmail money from a bathhouse. The main stash of money is in a side room, which is clearly being used to develop "dirty pictures". There are also 2 men who are partially naked though nothing is seen.
  • As you get farther along in the game, there is a story mission in the French Ward that involves breaking up a porn and prostitution ring. Parts of the mission include robbing an orgy (where people are seen both topless and in underwear, though no sex), destroying "dirty films" (just boxes) and also killing some men (partial nudity)
  • In the mission called "sex" which involves breaking up a porn and prostitution ring, there is a note you can find while going after enforcers. The note is found next to a set for a porno and has a very subtle nod to one of the infamous early adult films "Debbie Does Dallas" as it is signed by a Debbie. Not explicit at all.
  • Definitely the most graphic. Players can find porno places, and bust up a orgy. One mission has you going to a bathouse, and you can see two males engaging in anal sex.
  • There are also infrequent depictions of homosexual intimacy, where the player may encounter same-gender characters engaged in kissing or hugging.
  • A optional mission shows male nudity, but this can be easily avoided.
  • You can pick up retro playboy magazines around the world. All show partial male and female nudity.
  • During gameplay, the player may also encounter girls in skimpy outfits around bars and pubs, but you cannot interact with them.

Violence & Gore

  • Extreme and bloody violence throughout
  • Blood gore spill out the body when shot.
  • The player will control Clay from a third-person perspective to explore the game world and complete a variety of missions, many of which consist of illegal activities such as taking over criminal rackets from rivals, assassination of rival gangsters, and stealing cars.
  • As the game progresses, cinematic scenes will play to deliver the narrative.
  • Clay will engage in multiple brutal fights and extended graphic shootouts with rival mobsters and law enforcement as well as intense car chases.
  • Clay can use a variety of weapons such as pistols, machine guns, rifles and explosives, or employ violent 'takedown' melee moves against enemies.
  • The level of violence during combat and in some non-interactive cinematic scenes is very brutal and graphic with blood and brain matter staining nearby surfaces during the shootouts and people getting stabbed to death.
  • The strongest depictions of interactive violence are in the 'takedown' moves that can be executed by the player, resulting in characters being impaled in the neck or stabbed in the face with a knife, or being shot point-blank.
  • Two scenes depict characters being subjected to torture, but there is no player interactivity involved.
  • Overall, there are various realistic depictions of violence, employed in methods such as killing, maiming and/or causing serious injury to human characters featured in the game, and the violence itself is sadistic, cruel and abhorrent.

Profanity

  • Due to the setting of the game, There are uses of the word "nigger"
  • The word "cunt" is used more than once.
  • 515 uses of "fuck" (most profane game in the trilogy)
  • The game includes the frequent use of strong coarse language, such as the expletive 'f**k', as well as the stronger expletive 'motherf**ker'.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One of the side missions involves investigating a cult. The cult uses something called "sky" which is a incense like drug. The scenes are hazy while -playing in areas where "sky" is being burned
  • There are infrequent portrayals of drug use and drug references in the game.
  • In one cinematic, a character can be seen snorting lines of cocaine off a table, while in another scene, various female characters are seen packing drugs in a warehouse.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • One of the side missions involves investigating a cult. Most cult things are shown, like rituals, drugs, idols, etc. The cult scenes are very dark and intense. The idols may be disturbing to some
  • Part of the cult mission is to investigate a Mardi Gras warehouse. A lot of it takes place in the dark and the old Mardi Gras items may startle as light hits them
  • Part of the cult mission involves visiting an abandoned sanitorium (mental hospital). The drug the cult uses begins to severely alter the reality around you as you move through the sanitorium. Part of this altered state involves dead people trying to grab you.
  • 'Mafia III' is an open-world third-person shooter action game and a gritty crime drama set in 1968 in the fictional American city of New Bordeaux. The main protagonist, Lincoln Clay is a veteran Special Forces soldier who has just returned from the Vietnam War and reunites with the Black Mob, his surrogate African-American crime family. After being betrayed and left for dead, Clay sets out on a path of vengeance.
