The Super8 wedding footage of the Henderson brothers' parents is the wedding film of the parents of director Justin Channell.
When rain nearly ruined shooting of the "Cannibal Swim Club" segment of the film, the cast and crew instead decided to shoot in the rain and write it into the plot of the film.
Director Justin Channell spent several weeks making the HD footage shot for the film segments look as close to low-budget film stock from the 1980s as possible and then cropped the footage and dubbed it to VHS to achieve the vintage look.
The footage from the vampire movie the Henderson Brothers made as teenagers is actually footage from Raising the Stakes (2005), a vampire film Justin Channell, Josh Lively and Zane Crosby made when they were teenagers.
The DVD and Blu-Ray release include a commentary track with Zane Crosby in character as Michael Henderson that continues the story of the film.
