Warning: Spoilers
The Nation's Favourite... has celebrated all the best chart music from the greatest singers and bands from around the world, and artists and their songs that have reached number one, but this was the first in the documentary series to celebrate the best songs from the last 50 years of one of the greatest film series in the world, I was looking forward to the results of this countdown documentary programme. James Bond 007 is the most successful film series in the world from Britain, with six stars portraying the famous spy and secret agent: Sir Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Sir Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig, and twenty-four films so far. One important element in every film though is a theme song to accompany the film, either in the opening or closing credits, or elsewhere in the films, this show counted down the best songs from the James Bond films, as voted by the public. The twenty listed songs (all of which are from the films in the official Eon Productions films) are: "Another Way to Die" – Jack White and Alicia Keys (2008) from the film Quantum of Solace, "Tomorrow Never Dies" – Sheryl Crowe (1997), "The World Is Not Enough" – Garbage (1999), "Die Another Day" – Madonna (2002), "The Man with the Golden Gun" – Lulu (1974), "Thunderball" – Tom Jones (1965), "You Know My Name" – Chris Cornell (2006) from the film Casino Royale, "The Living Daylights" – a-ha (1987), "Licence to Kill" – Gladys Knight (1989), "GoldenEye" – Tina Turner (1995) – written by Bono and The Edge, "You Only Live Twice" – Nancy Sinatra (1967), "From Russia with Love" – Matt Monro (1963), "For Your Eyes Only" – Sheena Easton (1981), "A View to a Kill" – Duran Duran (1985), "We Have All the Time in the World" – Louis Armstrong (1969) from the film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, "Nobody Does It Better" – Carly Simon (1977) from the film The Spy Who Loved Me, "Diamonds Are Forever" – Shirley Bassey (1971), "Goldfinger" – Shirley Bassey (1964), "Live and Let Die" – Paul McCartney & Wings (1973) and a fantastic number one with "Skyfall" – Adele (2012), which deservedly won the Oscar for Best Original Song. Other songs mentioned in the show were: The James Bond Theme by Monty Norman, the music of John Barry and his Orchestra, "Millennium" – Robbie Williams (which samples "You Only Live Twice"), "Live and Let Die" – Guns N' Roses, "Diamonds from Sierra Leone" – Kanye West (which samples "Diamonds Are Forever"), "We Have All the Time in the World" – Fun Lovin' Criminals, "James Bond Theme (Moby's Re-Version)" - Moby, "The Man with the Golden Gun" – Alice Cooper, "Tomorrow Never Lies" – Pulp, "Thunderball" – Johnny Cash, "For Your Eyes Only" – Blondie (Debbie Harry) and "Writing's on the Wall" – Sam Smith from the film Spectre, the first James Bond song to reach number one.
