A Rumbling in the Land (1969)
*** (out of 4)
Filmmaker Robert Allen Schnitzer was a student at Stony Brook University during the 1969 occupation by Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and this eleven-minute short film came out of it. If you're watching this film via the Arrow Video release of the director's THE PREMONITION then you'll get a brief introduction to the film but we basically see a lot of photographs from Vietnam, the Civil Rights movement and other events and we also hear speeches from I'm guessing the SDS. At just eleven-minutes there's certainly nothing ground-breaking here but if you're a fan of the director's work then this here is mildly entertaining in its own way. I thought it was well-made and there's no question that the director gets the group's message across in the short running time.
