- TriviaHigh River, Alberta, was the perfect small-town stand-in for Tin Star's fictional Little Big Bear, but the Rocky Mountains were not as prominent in the town's skyline as the show's producers had imagined. The town of Waterton, 200 kilometers to the south, is surrounded by a dramatic, mountainous landscape but wasn't equipped to host Tin Star's large crew. The solution involved compositing footage of Waterton's mountains with footage shot in High River to create the final images of Little Big Bear seen in the series.
- GoofsDuring the gas station scene at the beginning of the episode, Jim's pistol vanishes from its holster between shots.

The first episode of Tin Star had a shock opening before going back one year.
Tim Roth is Jim Worth. A British detective, a recovering alcoholic who has relocated with his young family to the Canadian Rockies to become the police chief of the small town of Little Big Bear.
The town is feeling the impact of a proposed new oil refinery which will bring workers, environmental pollution and money to the town.
The fate of the Worth family and some of the executives of the refinery are intertwined.
I found the first episode rather slowly paced after the opening moments. It does the thing of setting up its stall with the characters in a remote mountain town. It limps when it should be galloping.
You sense that this could be dark and twisted like Twin Peaks but I did not feel it. More a third rate tribute act.
