This is possibly the most Breaking Bad character heavy episode of this show yet. Not only is Gus now in the picture, but he is interacting with Mike and Hector. The entire opening sequence in Los Pollos Hermanos was tense, thrilling, and very well written. While it seems to take up a large portion of the run-time, the episode is in fact packed full of different scenes.
Not only does the episode contain a ton of interactions between classic Breaking Bad characters, it also has Breaking Bad characters interacting with Better Call Saul characters for the first time. Seeing Mike and Chuck together for the first time caught me completely by surprise, was very well executed, and fit in seamlessly with the story.
And, of course, there is the ongoing narrative of Jimmy's trial. This episode didn't focus on it too much, but it did contain a very well performed apology scene with a subtle reversal at the end, and the next episode promises to devote a lot of time to it.
All in all, this is one of the strongest episodes yet thanks to the tension, Breaking Bad references, and colliding worlds.
