Episode 6: Hagsploitation

As episode six starts, director William Castle (John Waters) introduces Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange) for their latest horror movie. With the box office doing good Jack Warner (Stanley Tucci) wants Robert Aldrich (Alfred Molina) to get Joan and Bette (Susan Sarandon) back together for another hag-horror film.

This sixth episode is certainly entertaining but at the same time there's really not too much going on here. We're starting the production of HUSH, HUSH SWEET CHARLOTTE and there are some entertaining and good moments but this is certainly the weakest episode since the first one. The highlight of the film is seeing Crawford struggle with the "shock" business of Castle but at the same time I'm not sure if Waters was the right person for the role as he's more of a distraction than anything else.

With that said, Lange once again gets to shine as the more bitter and dark side of Crawford are coming up including the now somewhat notorious rumor of her stag film. Sarandon is fun in her bit pieces as Davis but the real star of this episode is Molina. He's really doing a great job in the role of Aldrich and I thought he was terrific here and actually stole the episode.

Episode: B+
