Decent Short

Taiwan: Island of Freedom (1963)

** (out of 4)

This twenty minute short was produced by the U.S. Air Force Air Photographic and Charting Service as an introduction to solders who were landing in Taiwan. Glenn Ford narrates and hosts the introduction as we get to see various locations around Taiwan as well as learning about their culture and way of life.

Obviously, watching this today isn't quite the same as watching it when first released. For the most part it's a mildly entertaining short that I'm sure was useful for soldiers when they arrived in a foreign place that they probably had little to no knowledge about. There's some nice scenery of the place, which is beneficial today but at the same time there's no question that the overall tone is rather dry and a bit too boring for its own good.
