Meanwhile, FBI Art Crimes agent Emily Lee ( Tran) moves to South Florida and attempts to find the culprits behind a new string of forgeries.
Liz Daering-Glass and Gabrielle Cordero are producing alongside Damian Bao (Port Authority) via his Qilinverse production banner. Dave A. Liu (Dìdi) is executive producing.

The year 2023 was an embarrassment of riches when it came to animation. Movies like “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” became massive commercial successes and crossed the billion-dollar mark at the box office, while movies like “Nimona” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” hit big with audiences and critics. There were films that boasted wildly different aesthetics and showed the power of the animation medium, like “Blue Giant” and “The First Slam Dunk.” We also saw the return of legendary animator Hayao Miyazaki, who gave us his most personal film to date with “The Boy and the Heron.”
That’s a lot for 2024 to live up to — luckily, it seems the year will bring with it a healthy mix of big studio franchises and more grown-up animated fare. There are still big and highly anticipated animated movies slated to be released in 2024. Here is a rundown of 2024 animated releases with updates to come.

In the game of football, possession is everything.
When it comes to this year’s Super Bowl, one studio will dominate the field by running nearly a dozen spots for its upcoming and existing releases. Paramount is expected to unveil ads for the post-apocalyptic horror prequel “A Quiet Place: Day One,” the reggae biopic “Bob Marley: One Love” and “If,” the live-action fantasy comedy directed by John Krasinski and starring Ryan Reynolds. The studio’s outsized presence makes sense because the big game will air on CBS, a sister company of Paramount.
Paramount will loom large over the Super Bowl because, beyond the studio’s cinematic offerings, it will use promotional space for Paramount+. The studio’s streaming service will unspool eight ads for such titles as “Sonic the Hedgehog” spinoff “Knuckles” (a series that the studio produced for Paramount+), animated adventure “The Tiger’s Apprentice,” the Sylvester Stallone-led reality...

The Tiger’s Apprentice proved to be a delightful animated film, offering a refreshing escape into a magical realm filled with Zodiac characters and captivating revelations. Following the loss of his grandmother, Mrs. Lee, the protagonist Tom discovered his extraordinary role as a Guardian, a disclosure that unfolded in a glorious manner. The film’s strength lies in its intriguing premise and the execution of its fantasy adventure. However, a notable drawback was the fast-paced nature of the movie, leaving little time for in-depth character exploration. Despite this, Tom’s journey from skepticism to embracing his magical destiny was compelling. The film successfully balanced comfort and delight, making it an enjoyable watch. The execution of the plot, while not something groundbreaking. But the commendable thing was in its delivery of the battle against evil forces to attain divine power. Overall, The Tiger’s Apprentice offered a captivating and visually appealing experience, leaving...

Just like with almost every other 2024 film, I didn’t know much about The Tiger’s Apprentice. In fact, besides the fact that it had a tiger, I really didn’t know anything else about it. Therefore, I was surprised to see a cast boasting the likes of Henry Golding (The Gentlemen), Lucy Liu (Shazam! Fury of the Gods), Sandra Oh (Quiz Lady), and Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once), as well as talented screenwriters like David Magee (The Little Mermaid) and Christopher Yost (Thor: Ragnarok). Director Raman Hui (Monster Hunt) was the ‘wildcard’ I was unfamiliar with, so overall, I held no expectations whatsoever.

Plot: After a tragic loss, Tom Lee, a Chinese-American teen, learns he’s part of an order of guardians tasked with protecting an ancient phoenix. Clueless about his heritage, avatars of the Chinese zodiac assemble to show him the ropes and join the fight against the villainous Loo.
Review: Fantasy fiction is a slippery slope. After the meteoric rise of characters like Lyra Belacqua, Harry Potter, and Percy Jackson, the literary market became flooded with young heroes, each with a magical lineage to discover or a world-ending mystery to solve. It takes a lot to stand out among the crowd and leave your mark on young minds worldwide. Thankfully, The Tiger’s Apprentice taps into an extraordinary world shaped by timeless heritage and iconography, with the Chinese zodiac as its foundation.

Preeminent comedian Jo Koy has been set to host the 81st Golden Globe Awards, in what will be his first outing in that capacity at a major awards show.
He comes to the role of Globes host after breaking sales records on his “Funny Is Funny World Tour,” which came in as one of the highest grossing of the year according to Pollstar, at a gross of $29.4 million for 88 performances in arenas and theaters around the world.
While the Golden Globes are almost always hosted by comedians these days, the introduction of Koy to the stage is particularly appropriate in a year that’s seen the ceremony introduce a category recognizing Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television, alongside one for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. Inaugural nominees in the former include Chris Rock, Wanda Sykes, Trevor Noah, Sarah Silverman, Ricky Gervais and Amy Schumer.

"Mess with a tiger, you get the claws!" Paramount Animation has revealed the first look teaser trailer for an animated action movie titled The Tiger's Apprentice, adapted from the same book series. The animated project has been in development for years, and after finally starting production in 2020, the studio decided to cancel the theatrical release and instead send it directly to streaming on Paramount+. Which is a shame because this looks worthy of being seen in theater! Tom Lee, a Chinese-American boy, after the death of his grandmother, discovers he is part of a lineage of magical protectors known as the Guardians. With guidance from a mythical tiger named Hu, Tom trains up to take on Loo, a force that is as powerful as a Guardian but with evil intentions to use magic to destroy humanity. Michelle Yeoh is back! Not that she went anywhere, to paraphrase the Nicolas Cage comedy "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent." Still, we're undeniably in the midst of a renaissance (a Yeohnaissance?) for the Oscar-winning Malaysian superstar, one that arguably started with her role as the steely matriarch of the uber-wealthy Young family in 2018's "Crazy Rich Asians." Her latest project, "The Brothers Sun," once again sees Yeoh playing the determined head of a clan, this time portraying Eileen Sun, the wife of the recently assassinated head of a powerful Taiwanese triad.
The Sun family's connections to organized crime come as a real shock to Eileen's youngest son Bruce (Sam Song Li), who's been living a quiet life with his mother in Los Angeles when his older brother, Charles (Justin Chien), shows up to break the news ... and with a whole lot of dangerous people who want them dead on his tail.

In addition to dating its new Mean Girls movie theatrically, Paramount has set Oct. 18, 2024 for the next Smile movie.
In addition, the Bob Marley biopic is now going wide on Feb. 14 instead of Jan. 12 next year. Reinaldo Marcus Green directs Kingsley Ben-Adir in the title role as the legendary reggae musician.

He’s set to star alongside previously announced cast members including Ed Harris, Vanessa Hudgens, Finn Wittrock, Jack Dylan Grazer, August Blanco Rosenstein and Lily Rabe.
The feature directorial debut of Rabe and Hamish Linklater is based on Chuck Klosterman’s New York Times bestselling novel of the same name. Henry Golding has joined the cast of the adaptation of Chuck Klosterman’s Downtown Owl, the directorial debut of Lily Rabe and Hamish Linklater.

Sherry Cola is full of infectious joy that will only match her exciting year ahead. The 32-year-old comedian is gearing up for season four of "Good Trouble," premiering on March 9, and starring as a lead in Adele Lim's directorial debut. She's also lending her voice to Pixar's "Turning Red" and Paramount's "The Tiger's Apprentice." But that's only the beginning. Cola spoke to Popsugar about becoming more vulnerable through her "Good Trouble" character, Alice; her joy in undertaking projects that showcase multidimensional Asian characters; and her comedy plans.
Alice overlaps with Cola's life: they're both building careers as comedians, they're queer (Cola is bisexual and Alice is a lesbian), and they're finding their voices in difficult circumstances. Because of these parallels, season four taught Cola how to embrace both growth and struggle. "I just feel really grateful to be able to tell these stories authentically, as someone who...

In one of Brian Robbins’ first major moves as Paramount Pictures President and CEO, he has brought in one of his top lieutenants at Nickelodeon, Ramsey Naito, to lead the film studio’s animation division in addition to her current duties as President of Nickelodeon Animation. Naito’s new title will be President, Animation & Development, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, with the expansion of her portfolio mirroring that of Robbins, who also remains President and CEO of Nickelodeon. Mireille Soria, President of Paramount Animation, is leaving.
“Ramsey is one of the savviest executives and creative minds in our industry,” Robbins said. “During her time at Nick, she has transformed and reinvigorated the Animation Studio division with her sharp business instincts, deep stable of relationships and unique eye for great storytelling, and I’m thrilled to have her bring her talents to this expanded role where she can further elevate our overall animation business.

“Good Trouble” star Sherry Cola is joining the cast of Adele Lim’s upcoming R-rated comedy about a group of four friends traveling through Asia in search of one of their birth mothers. Cola will appear opposite Ashley Park (“Emily in Paris”) as one of the film’s leads.
The movie, which is being produced by Lionsgate and Point Grey Pictures, marks Lim’s directorial debut. The screenplay was written by Cherry Chevapravatdumrong (“Family Guy”) and Teresa Hsiao (“Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens”). The three will produce alongside Point Grey’s Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Josh Fagen. Meredith Wieck and Chisom Ude will oversee the project for Lionsgate.
As the women at the center of the film travel through the region, their experience becomes one of bonding, friendship, belonging and no-holds-barred wild debauchery that reveals the universal truth of what it means to know and love who you are.

Exclusive: Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding will play Mr. Elliot opposite Dakota Johnson’s Anne Elliot in Netflix and MRC’s modern feature take of Jane Austen’s classic novel Persuasion.
In the Ron Bass and Alice Victoria Winslow penned script, Anne Elliot is an unconforming woman with modern sensibilities, living with her snobby family who are on the brink of bankruptcy. When Frederick Wentworth—the dashing one she once sent away—crashes back into her life, Anne must choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances. I hear what attracted Golding to the role was the opportunity to play against type; Mr. Elliot being the callous and classic Austen foil.
As previously announced, Carrie Cracknell, who directed Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Sturridge to Tony nominations in 2019 in Sea Wall/ A Life on Broadway, will make her feature directorial debut here with Persuasion.
