Can't wait to see where this goes. Promising premise. Really great cast.

Intriguing...

A perfectly decent opening episode of the show. With Hinds, Menzies and Harris in the cast the acting is of a high calibre and the sub-plots and hints at what's to come are certainly intriguing. The CGI effects and settings are particularly strong and atmospheric here, reminding me of the 'north of the wall' scenes in GAME OF THRONES. I look forward to seeing what's to come...

It's an atmospheric, if slightly slow start.

I will be totally honest, I'm really not sure whether I liked or tolwrated it, but will give it the benefit of the doubt, and stick with it.

I watched this as I thought it was a horror inspired series, maybe that will come? This first part is pretty good, but definitely a little slow, maybe it will get a little bit more exciting, time will tell.

It has way more positives than negatives. It is hugely atmospheric, beautifully produced, and well acted, perhaps I just struggled somewhat with the pacing of this first episode.

I hope for a little more as time goes on. 6/10.

Go for Broke

It starts off with a group of men talking to an Inuit man about a missing Royal Navy expedition.

It then flashbacks to the expedition of two ships. Sir John Franklin (Ciaran Hinds) commander of the Erebus. Captain Francis Crozier (Jared Harris) commander of the Terror. Third in command James Fitzjames (Tobias Menzies.)

Something unexpected happens when a member of the crew starts to cough blood and the ship's medic cannot ascertain what is wrong with him. The crew member dies but he hallucinates before he dies.

On the other ship, a diver sees the ghost of a dead crew member who fell to his death come towards him.

The first episode was very atmospheric with a sense of doom. The money was spent on the screen.

However it was slow going but it certainly had a sense of foreboding eeriness.

I do think I may have to revisit the first episode later on. It might have contained things I might have missed the first time.
