It's 100% true.

Warning: Spoilers
I lived in Cartagena and Barranquilla for a few years. Many on the men in rural areas have sex with donkeys. To them it really isn't weird. It's crazy.

Old school CHM!

The trio are in Colombia to photograph wildlife but what you get is breathtaking views with Classic banter and double meaning jokes from CHM and then some more.

Brilliant

The three lads are in Columbia to photograph animals, what could go wrong? This part one of a two part special has the makings of the best trip yet. Some of the scenery is fabulous and the lads are on great form. Can't wait for part 2.

This is on pair or better than the TG shows. And I am the first one to say the GT was nowhere near the TG. Enjoy!

Oh a travelogue episode.

Part 1 of the lads going to Columbia. Much better than last season's sorry trip through Mozambique. All the usual gags with some more bawdy humour than years previous.

Great to see them doing what they do best
alextalent25 January 2019
This episode was pretty damn awesome - as usual. And despite my reservations I'll definitely want to see it again.

I do however think the Americans are influencing the show a little too much with the editing, pacing and the stunts. The bit with the car all wrapped up was a wasted 15 minutes, the joke was naff and then dragged on and on. Id rather have seen them chit chat about the journey to come and rip into each other.

The episodes pacing was all wrong. The actual travelling scenes were skipped over and separated by long drawn out funny bits. It didn't really flow as usual. Yes, it meant more laughs, but that's not entirely what the shows about

Stop mentioning Amazon products and features, it's awkward and unlike the trio to normally do that.

Keep up the good work guys, and try to resist Amazons choices...they're not exactly renowned makers of decent television.

It's really not as good as it used to be...
derbigpr26 January 2019
Don't get me wrong, it's not horrible, but when I remember (and re-watch) some of the old Top Gear specials, the Bolivia special for example, it's obvious that this is not even a shadow of it. I mean, it just felt really boring and drawn out. An hour of the show, but close to nothing interesting happened. It's just like a filler shot after a filler shot, broken by a few generic conversations and lame jokes. It just feels like something that in the past would fit into a 15 minute section, but has now been dragged out into an hour long episode. The pacing is all wrong, it feels wrong, like every irrelevant scene is at least twice as long as it should be, and then when something potentially interesting comes along, they skip it quickly. The Bolivia special was only 20 minutes longer than this, but it feels like it's 5 times as long and like 5 times as much content is in it. I know because I just finished re-watching it, and it's so much better than this Colombia special that it genuinely makes me sad, because it's clear that the magic the old show had is long gone. The guys seem to feel that way too, because it seems like the connection they used to have between each other and with what they were doing at the time is not there anymore. Old specials felt like three mates went on an adventure and really enjoyed doing something together. This episode felt like three guys are getting payed to do something together, and not even necessarily act like they're enjoying it.

Mundane predictable & all a little pathetic
imdb-405-71513025 January 2019
How I wish they returned to their basic strengths. This is all so contrived and obviously cooked up over lazy planning meetings with the three amigos armed with copious bottles of decent Rose and too much budget to hand. Very sad... Could be so much better if Amazon let them be themselves...

I'm sorry but this is not what I expected
liuxm26 January 2019
Much like some others mentioned, it's unnecessarily long and boring and all the jokes are so dry and pale. the old TG specials are much more fun to enjoyable to watch. Especially if you compare with Bolivia special and Patagonia Special, those were epic! and Bolivia special was even only in 1 episode which felt like 2hr long.

Couldnt watch it after 5 minutes
remindeer9 October 2019
Alot of season 3 episodes are just too politicized, and just takes the fun factor away. Starting at Colombia, then making so many jokes and implying that they are using smuggler's boats and cars just killed it for me. This is a common theme on season 3. Alot of foreigner bashing and stereotypes. If I wanted that, I would be watching CNN or something.

I am a Clarkson fan, but....
charles-934-89114925 January 2019
....this was utter garbage. Boring, repetitive and very little actually happened. To say that it was overly staged, somewhat misses the point in that it doesn't pretend to be anything else. But it was ridiculously asinine. The 2nd part looks a lot more interesting.

The magic is long gone, it's unwatchable and very sad
Graf_Z25 January 2019
I was hoping for something at least watchable. But no... It's not funny, utterly devoid of life, horribly boring, the whole thing looks and feels like a lobotomized version of the Bolivia special. But the worst of it, they are not enjoying themselves. They pretend, but doing a horrible job. Grand Tour never got close to being really good, yet it was palatable, even fun at times. But now that post-BBC adrenaline has worn off, they just look sad. Hammond and Clarkson are especially painful to watch. Captain Slow is the only one who's still more or less himself, but that's not enough. Jokes are stale and stupid. Everything is nauseatingly fake and makes no sense.

Guys, just stop. Stop torturing yourself, this is like watching drunk old Elvis singing some incomprehensible nonsense off-key.

Boring
steve-ball729 January 2019
They've had their day. They look tired and seem to be just going through the motions. Not a patch on their BBC heyday. Also, I wasn't impressed by the not very funny, casual homophobia. I won't be watching anymore.

Already tired of the Trump jokes.
smoke1327 January 2019
The Clarkson, May, Hammond version of Top Gear began when I was 15. I always lived vicariously through the three as an escape from reality. When I watch The Grand Tour, I don't really want to hear Clarkson's opinions regarding the president of the country of the company which employs him. There are jokes, and then there are insults and "Trailer Trash Trump Truck" is an insult. We Americans are bombarded with insults to our president on a daily basis and we sure a hell don't need it from some overpaid millionaire so-called "journalist".

Not to mention all the staged humor. You can't plan the mishaps, the infighting, the break-downs...they have to come naturally. We have been watching these three together for 17 years and we can see through their BS. This show isn't what Top Gear used to be.

Does nothing new
cruickshanks37827 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
You have seen this episode before. The only thing different is they try to take photos, but beyond that, it's just a rehash of every trip where they crash into each other, fall out, make up.

It could have been so much more, they could have each brought along a modern 4x4, proved how they can conquer far more than urban streets (and to be fair May's car does do this, but will be a shock to no-one who's been in Europe in winter).

Where the Grand Tiur works is like the muscle cars in America, sports cars in Europe episodes. Where it fails is episodes like this - it does nothing new, and like any program trying to be funny that just uses the same jokes, it's wearing very very thin these days

Disappointed
irfanyounus-52-23566126 January 2019
The show is losing its charm, when JMH's gaffs were natural while they were doing a car show. Now the show surrounds their gaffs (intentional) and there is no car. I wish they go back to their roots.

The First Sign of the Demise of Grand Tour
Drabble50029 August 2023
Here we are in South America, scene of that wonderful Bolivia Special, and yet this Colombia special has almost none of the charm, pizzazz, and camaraderie of the earlier episode.

The pretext for the show, taking photos of wildlife, is obviously a thin one in the context of these three, and the pacing of the programme reflects this.

What's particularly evident is that Clarkson is beginning to descend from being the right side of daring humour previously into being, well, a knob. It's evident that the other two are beginning to fall out with him, something that emerges from this time on. Clarkson has basically just become an irascible old bore.

It's much, much, more tedious than the old days. Sad really.

They should hang up their keys, or do something different like a farming show or travelling around Italy.
