- Terry, a project manager for a corporate hotel firm, comes to town to orchestrate the construction of their next facility. Accompanying him is his teenage daughter Amelia. Terry's wife died two years earlier and he has attempted, with limited success, to meet Amelia's needs as she grows up. Too often, his work gets in the way. Determined to change things for the better, he promises her to do better this time. When he drops her off at her new school, Brookswood Intermediate, he notices a flyer about an upcoming PTA meeting. He thinks being more active in her school will help shore up the gulf between them. At the meeting he runs into "Christmas" Carol, the biggest mover and shaker among parents. She, too, is a single parent. Her husband left unexpectedly, leaving her with the job of bringing up her teenage son, Bryan. Carol has run the annual Christmas Pageant for some time and proposes to do use the same traditional format again for the upcoming holiday season. Terry is the lone dissenter, suggesting that they might like to try something more modern. Thus, a clash of wills begins. It is so pronounced, that the principal steps in a declares the pair will be co-chairs and that a compromise solution will be adopted - Christmas Past, Present and Future. Working together becomes even more tense when Carol learns that Terry's new hotel project begins with the demolition of the old library. She has been spearheading a campaign to preserve the historic building. The course of true love never runs smooth.—Garon Smith
