So violent, there again not as violent as what went on in the trenches the shelbys had returned from. I have to agree with another reviewer about Adrien Brodys portrayal of a mafia gangster. He is a brilliant actor, but he was so over the top in this that every time he came on screen i started to laugh. It was like a caricature of a gangster that a kid would have done. He must have watched The Godfather a thousand times and decided he would play it like Brando, sadly it didnt work. Still love the series though. Off to watch 5 now.

great acting with one exception

Love the fourth year of this series. I just can't understand the casting of Adrien Brody. Does he know he is not on SNL that it is not a parody of The Godfather? That is some of the the worst acting I have seen.on this show. Very disappointing and almost unwatchable.

Scabs and Strikes

The storyline has cooled off from the fast pace set by the first two episodes, not much happened to develop the main storyline. Decent acting and cinematography, a few good moments in character development.

Thrilling as always but ramped up to another level because of that twist.

Warning: Spoilers
Every single episode of this already legendary crime saga is brilliant but the intensity is up another level now.

The revelation of just who is the traitor within the company is a real shocker and not who I suspected.

This is not only a shock but really ramps up the tension in the final three episodes of Series 4.

British television at its very finest.

This was an incredibly interesting episode.

This was an incredibly interesting episode. I'm really enjoying Luca Changretta as a villain, and I think a lot of the characters are having lots of difficult moral struggles. Tommy is such a layered character, so it's exciting to see some more of his past. Arthur had some of the most interesting conflicts in this episode, and I'm excited if Finn will get anymore development. Micheal is a great character, and it was nice to see how his past affects him, and Ada was great as always. Polly is so intuiging, and the episode's ending truly shows how she is, and I think Tommy pushed her to the edge. Lizzie might be an interesting love interest, and Jessie Eden continues to make herself known. Linda is... A little annoying, and while I don't like what the character is doing, I like her motives and overall character. This episode was interesting to watch, and kept me engaged until the very last minute.

That ending is why this show is so great

It makes you question every associate of the Shelby clan. Who can they trust? Would Polly give Tommy up to keep everyone else safe? Why would Luca trust her or vice versa? I am excited for the next episode. In fact, I'm excited for the rest of the season. "You're dancing with me" is saying that she's "dancing with the devil" by making plans with him. It's so rare for a show to get better with every season, but I think Peaky Blinders has succeeded. What a fantastic show, and criminally underrated at that. Season 4 is such a wild ride. It has the grit of Season 1, with the accolades that the Shelby's have accumulated prior. It's so well written!

Blackbird

Warning: Spoilers
Back in 1990, Francis Ford Coppola was asked if The Godfather III was inspired by King Lear. He replied that 'if you are going to steal, then steal from the best.'

It is clear series 4 is indebted to The Godfather, I am not just talking about Adrian Brody's performance. Tommy brings in scab workers to break the strike. Arthur is attacked in the factory by Changretta's gang, he kills two of them.

However Tommy needs to find out who betrayed the family, who is leaving town. Tommy is told that are lot of people do not like the Shelby's an are willing to betray them.

Aunt Polly meanwhile has a past with Luca Changretta, enough to consider making a deal with him.

Disappointing

Warning: Spoilers:

I have loved Peaky Blinders up until this season, but this season has really disappointed me.

It turns out the apparently the dreaded New York Mafia are a bunch of amateurs and a joke of an adversary.

In this episode, despite having something like 15 men apparently in the country (who all dress so they stand out like sore thumbs and can be spotted coming a mile away) they send only two after Arthur. Of course all their shots miss and so they then split up (of course) so Arthur can kill them one by one.

Great show, but

Many of the shots are getting a bit too staged and video/artsy. And the absolute worst casting and acting I have seen in a long time is Adrien Brody. His portrayal of the Italian gangster is nothing short of ridiculous. The woman gang of Polly, Ada and Lizzie is fantastic. And the usual guys of course Tommy, Arthur.

Unbelievably Ridiculous!

So we are supposed to believe that Changretta agrees to the Poly's offer, giving up Tommy which Changretta could have killed him at the first place in his office!! That's more than silly! Unfortunately, they ruined the fantastic starting of the season.

damn mafia
Why the hell is Adrian Brody playing such a stupid guy in this particular episode!?...and he's guys are just hungry. Sometimes I accept the role but now he looked very damn strange. Maybe if Luca was drunk it could go further with this episode, but I couldn't digest it!
