At some time in the past, Bernard solemnly tells blue dress Dolores he needs to make a choice, worried about what she will become. Dolores then takes control and pauses Bernard, she is actually testing him for fidelity.
Teddy walks down Sweetwater, the piano plays at the Mariposa, Wyatt Dolores on the keyboard. Reprogrammed Teddy is anxious to get going. Two Delos hostages are on their knees, Teddy summarily shoots one who won't say where Abernathy is. They all board the train.
Stubbs is struck by the dead in the Control Room. He brings Abernathy to a lab with Hale. She checks the host, his data seems OK. They bring the struggling Abernathy to a tech, Hale wants him off his feet. The tech nails the host to a recliner, Stubbs watches in dismay as Abernathy is in great pain.
Morning in Shogun World, dead litter the ground. Akane cradles Sakura's body, then cuts her heart out. Maeve gives her a cloth to wrap it in. Maeve leads her group, she easily controls two guards to kill themselves. Tanaka approaches with Armistice, Hector and Musashi. The rest can leave but Tanaka wants Akane. Musashi offers to duel for her. Maeve will not intercede, the two men face off with katana. Musashi wins a spirited fight, forcing Tanaka to seppuku, then beheads him. Akane urges Maeve to be on her journey.
William, Lawrence and Emily ride along, William tries to ignore his daughter, he thinks she is a host sent by Ford. Emily kills two ambushers to prove herself.
Elsie and Bernard walk along train tracks, they head to a tunnel in a cliff face. Inside dead are all about. They get to the Mesa Control Room, Elsie gets to a workstation. The Cradle, a host backup, seems to be preventing the Park from resetting. Bernard says they have to access it in person.
The Japan group arrive at a scenic lake near Mt Fuji. They enter a peaceful temple grounds. The large Buddhist bell hides the exit chute. Lutz slides first into a room full of dead. Akane lays the heart in a stone pot, they burn it. Musashi tells Maeve they won't be going, satisfied to meet their fate there. The two groups give respectful nods of farewell.
Another night falls, Emily and William are at a campfire. William lightens up, Emily says Charlotte Hale had called her and she wanted to see Raj World, her favorite. William is impressed she found him. Emily says she is there to stop him from suicide by robot and is sorry she blamed him for her mother's death. William agrees they can leave with the place burning behind them.
In the morning Emily awakes but William has already taken off, she curses.
Bernard and Elsie go the Cradle Data Centre. He stands in a rig, Elsie sets the controls, a machine opens his skull and extracts his spherical brain pod/control unit, dropping it into a receiver.
Bernard wakes on the train entering Sweetwater, he is in the Cradle VR world. Hosts go about their daily routines.
Parachutes drop, an angry new security guy Coughlin arrives and issues terse instructions and dismisses Stubbs.
Maeve's group, back in Westen gear, climb out into Westworld, close to her old homestead. Maeve thanks Lee Sizemore. Maeve wants to go alone from there and kisses Hector, she walks away.
William and Lawrence ride into Ghost Nation lands, arrows fly and they gallop their horses to escape.
Maeve finds her old house, longing for a reunion with her daughter. She finds the girl on the porch but the youth doesn't recognize Maeve. Instead, she has another programmed host mother. Maeve is taken aback, then four Ghost Nation riders sweep in. Maeve grabs the girl and runs for it. The Indian Leader, Akecheta, catches up and speaks Lakota to Maeve to come with them, she refuses. Hector and the rest come in firing, making the Indians retreat. Lutz, Sizemore and Sylvester watch from the hillside. Sizemore decides to call for help.
On the train Dolores' gang readies their weapons. Teddy gives the tech hostage a gun with one bullet, then locks him in the last car, then decoupling it.
Coughlin is debriefed, the system is technically OK but a program is overriding everything. They manage to get the 3D map on, and see the train moving towards the Mesa. An explosion goes off after the train enters the tunnel. Elsie is startled by the rattle. Inside the Cradle Bernard sees Blue Dress Dolores go about her shopping. Inside the Mariposa Robert Ford plays the piano.
