The alternate timelines plot is again the shakiest part of the story in how it develops. The way Juliana can imagine herself in the alternate reality seems more like fantasy than science fiction. Still, the existence of alternate timelines has interesting ramifications. For John Smith it must be equally devastating and hopeful that his son is alive in another timeline. John and Helen Smith's story is still the most captivating ongoing story of this series, as it has been in my opinion for a while. This time we see the premiere of the film about Thomas Smith and how it uses his death for pure propaganda purposes. We also see Helen needs to change her image because currently it is not the image that the propaganda piece shows. What's most interesting about the film is that it names John Smith Father to the Entire Nation. The prospect of someone like him who is being disillusioned with aspects of the regime gaining yet more influence is exciting. The very title must remind him that it was he who inspired his son to go to his death.
Juliana and Joe are maneuvered to meet again. She doesn't seem to fully trust him yet, understandably. Juliana's story has been the most functional so far this season, pretty much just moving her from place to place to get her to where she needs to be for her real story to continue. Joe Blake has had more interesting things to do, having gone through so much torture and clearly not loving the Nazis but still executing traitors for them.
Tagomi gets some development too. I'm not sure exactly what his interactions with the painter signify, but they will undoubtedly lead to something as everything in this series is purposeful even if it doesn't always seem it straight away. Great episode. 8.3/10
