Hodge podge ep saved by Mick and Axl
imakk200113 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This was definitely the weakest ep of the season. People reacted/things happened for no reason other than "because". Imagine each plot point written on a stick, then all the sticks were thrown together to form a pile, and then superglued into place as-is. That's Amazing Grace. Still it was obvious this was supposed to beef up Nate's background/character, move Nate/Amaya further along (and therefore twisting the knife when their end comes?), and introduce the death totem. The ep was vaguely successful in that.

But thank goodness, Mick is still Mick. He and Axl were the best and possibly only interesting parts: Axl's name change, Mick's on-going kleptomacy, the funeral (although if Ray had been truly sincere, he would have worn black but props to him for his kind remembrance of his first meeting with the deceased), Mick/Axl's scenes (last one had me misty-eyed...), and the in memoriam (I could have done without that super close up of the dearly departed though).

Score: would have been 5 if it weren't for Mick and Axl: 7.5

Hmmmmm

I enjoyed the story and pacing except for the fact that everything about Elvis was historically incorrect and even his look in 1954/5 was way off. Maybe it's a copyright issue but it's was just all wrong.

Timeless

This show has so much potential like Timeless tv series this one just adds the superhero aspect. I agree racial tension seemed lacking but it was a church and not everyone was racist back then. I don't relate everything to our society and some hidden agenda. I like a good story with emotion and laughs and mystery and suspense etc. I think this show delivers that every week. Keep up the great work writers. I don't want to see my own society reflected in each episode I can see that on the news daily. This show and so many others are a respite from our stressful lives -- we don't want to add to it. This episode was very enjoyable. don't miss it. Death totem, there is a death in this one. Love Jiwe, Mick, and Sara.

Best episode since Firestorm...

Was this episode really a 10...no...But it was the best episode since ...this season started. I laughed...i cried a little. I enjoyed this episode even though there was no explanation for how the anacrahnism actually happened...nothing caused it and nothing ended it..but without poking holes it was a fun episode...But really this has got to be the last season..no rick and no firestorm plus lousy writing = cancelled!!

Warning: Spoilers
I thought it would be a cute homage to the birthplace of RnR, but to ignore the racial tension of that era is an affront to those who fought, and are still fighting, for equal rights. 1954 in Memphis, Tennessee? This episode is the first step toward "see, it never happened!"

There were segregated churches, bars, and heaven forbid interracial dancing OR kissing in public (IN A CHURCH?). Please, even in our day of political correctness, let's be true to ourselves and true to the history that led to the civil rights movement.

Oh, and the kid that played Elvis completely missed the mark. This episode had so much potential. Wasted.

Three stars because I am falling more in love with Rory with every episode this season. We have the same sense of humor.

What about the racism in the 1950es?
margaritashelley28 March 2018
Seriously, are we just going to pretend that the 50es wasn't an ugly, racist time where Wally would not have been allowed into the church, let alone allowed to talk to and influence the preacher? I think by being liberal about this ugly past we are not paying respect to it... Just a thought I guess.

I am a tremendous fan of LoT! Love the cast, the stories, the vibe. #Avalance is very nearly an addiction for me and S3 is the beginning of the love story. But the episode is probably the worst. I can't remember a story this cringy, and the first season was BAD. This is the first time I've seen it since it originally aired and it was as bad as I remembered.

Plot Anyone?

A terrible episode. Absolutely lifeless. The Elvis impersonator couldn't be bothered to learn the few motions required to sell the idea that he was actually performing.
