Two new female characters made their official debut tonight, one seemingly a new member of the team, and the other likely to be the big bad of this season. Zari, a tech guru with some superhuman-like abilities with the help of a totem, was the target of one Kuasa. Kuasa, who briefly appeared last week, looks to be the Legends big threat this year. What her true intentions are and why she goes around barely saying a word are two mysteries for a later date, but I quite enjoyed both of their roles tonight.
With all of the testosterone on the waverider, the team could use another female voice, especially one that has a different past and displays different abilities. Whether or not she will be the team's eyes and ears with tech and hacking is yet to be seen (but likely), but at least she has a different background than any of the Legends. After all, she is from the future.
Kuasa on the other hand gave me a mixed reaction. This show has yet to nail a villain, and I know Kuasa will offer something different, but I was just overall confused as to what her motives were. She literally said a few lines, did a few water tricks, killed some folks, and went on her way. If I'm going to invest myself in her character, I'm gonna need some background. At least she's not Vandal Savage
The rest of the episode was filled with more time-bureau drama, Amaya controlling her issue with her totem, and typical Legends' shenanigans. I should also give some credit to Nick Zano for having some solid comedic timing while Nate was "on drugs". Overall, it wasn't too shabby. I appreciate the things this show is trying, but it's still lacking in the villain department.
