Oh boy, the song is fine, the video could have been better

"Oh Father" is a song by Madonna and here we got the 5-minute music video from 1989, so this one is already almost 30 years old and it is in black-and-white and was directed by Oscar nominee David Fincher during his earlier more prolific career years. Madonna was around the age of 30 at that time and here we have a slower song from her, a decent ballad, but sadly I felt that the music video is not on par quality-wise and this may be the reason why "Oh father" is not half as known as "Like A Prayer", the song the album is named after. And the uncomfortable subject of course also does not make it a song or video you want to check out with your daddy on Father's Day. It has its good moments and it is nice to see Madonna a bit more restrained for once during her earlier days, but I wish I liked this more than i actually did. As I have to rate it as a movie here on the imdb and not the audio only, I give this one a thumbs-down overall. It does not get as effective as it could have been and it seems Fincher was still miles away from his best.
