Making 'Witchtrap' with Director Kevin Tenney (2017)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
Fun twenty-three minute interview with writer-director Kevin Tenney who talks about his 1989 film WITCHTRAP. Tenney starts off talking about two of his previous movies (WITCHBOARD, NIGHT OF THE DEMONS) and then the focus turns to the lesser known WITCHTRAP. He starts off talking about becoming a "horror director" when he really wasn't a fan of the genre and then he gets into how this film got off the ground. From here we get all sorts of highly entertaining stories about the production ranging from the casting of the picture as well as why the film was recorded silent with all the dialogue and sound effects added later. He also talks about the battle with the MPAA and how the Vinegar Syndrome is the first time anyone outside the cast has seen the original director's cut. If you're a fan of WITCHTRAP then you'll certainly enjoy this featurette. The director certainly comes across as a fun guy and there's no question that you'll enjoy listening to these stories. I really didn't like the film in question at all but did enjoy these stories from the set.
