80s equivalent to Pharrell's Happy

Warning: Spoilers
The title "Bobby McFerrin: Don't Worry, Be Happy" summarizes pretty nicely what these slightly over 4 minutes we have here are all about, namely the singer and the name of the song for which we got the music video here. This is from 1988, so it has its 30th anniversary this year. Emmy nominee McFerrin also appears in front of the camera here as part of a trio that also includes actors Bill Irwin and (crowd charmer) Robin Williams (rest in peace) having a pretty fun time just trying to be in a good mood and joking around in different costumes as characters with different backgrounds when it comes to nationality, style, ethnicity, maybe even religion. But yeah, don't get this wrong as this is not a serious film / music video by any means as you can probably judge from the title. Drew Takahashi is the director and don't worry if you have never heard of the name before as this one here is probably his most known work to this day despite not too many from the newer generations having seen the music video at all. But you actually should, especially as the first 30 seconds or so are really typical awkward, yet really funny 80s material. Somewhat defining for the decade even. So if you like the tune, the chorus is still famous around the globe and will probably be for another 100 years, then go check this out. The music video is a bit underseen, even if admittedly in terms of depth and meaning neither song nor video truly make an impact. but they don't need to in order to be a success in both areas. Thumbs up without a doubt.

Classic feel good song and video.

Brings back memories to the 5th grade remember this carefree not worry song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" as even my dad and mom would sing it and tell me when things were not going my way hey "Don't Worry Be Happy!" The words are funny and uplifting from one hit wonder Bobby McFerrin and the music video is relaxed as the moves and actors make fun of themselves like the late Robin Williams and Christopher Reeves, overall classic memorable music video.

Easier said than actually done but this catchy song's title always makes us think about the possibility of turning things around despite our everyday problems, stop thinking too much and just stay happy. "Don't Worry, Be Happy" is one of those remarkable classics that definitely makes the life of an artist, in this case Bobby McFerrin who got mainly associated with it. As for the video clip, it's one of the funniest and nostalgic moments in video history.

McFerrin is the lead guy, who from time to time has the same worries as the people he presents in the song but from other time to time he also finds a different refuge where he stops worrying about his problems (because they make it double) and just stays happy...in the company of giant comics Robin Williams and Bill Irwin amidst their lovely comic routines as dancing and falling around while the woooo-woooo-woooo keeps going on endlessly while the chorus go 'don't worry, be happy'.

Music and video can actually transform your life in a matter of minutes. I dare you not to laugh at the situations presented or not feel relaxed with Bobby's magnificent vocal attributes. It was true in the late 1980's and it's more true now. Surely the song has been used in many different films out there and usually to define an ironic moment but there's some unavoidable reality to it that cannot be washed away easily. It's all that great. It's uplifting without being corny, a pure melody and a great voice following it; and with an amazing trio of actors having a great time and this whole combination transcends to us. Music videos didn't get better than this. 9/10

For so many reasons, just lovely. Fo the humor and for the kick to more relaxed attitude, for Robin Williams and the movement of toes of Bobby McFerrin, for the rhytm and for the flavor of nostalgia. And for the status of smart job. So, just a classic, seductive again and again.
