- Lena Luthor: Kara, I think I know what's going on.
- Kara Danvers: What do you mean?
- Lena Luthor: You rushing in and out of the office, not focused on work.
- Kara Danvers: I don't know what you're talking about.
- Lena Luthor: I grew up in a house of the most deceptive people in the world. I can tell when someone's lying to me. You don't have to hide from me, Kara.
- Kara Danvers: I...
- Lena Luthor: It's about Mon-El, isn't it? So if you need to take more time, just take it.
- Kara Danvers: I appreciate it, Lena, but that is not what's going on with me.
- Lena Luthor: Okay. Then what is? You can tell me, you know?
- Kara Danvers: It's personal. And I don't want to talk about personal things at my job. I have work to do.
- Lena Luthor: Okay. Then let's talk about work. This is unacceptable behavior for an employee. You ran out this morning when I gave you an assignment, you missed a staff meeting, and now, when asked to do a job by your boss, you act like it's an inconvenience. I did not spend $750 million on a company as a favor to a friend, nor do I plan on being an absentee landlord. I'm a businesswoman, and this is an investment. I plan to get out of it everything I can.
- Supergirl: She must be getting stronger. I felt her in that elevator with me. She was... she was in my head again.
- Winn Schott: Well, there is no sign of any psychic intrusion.
- Supergirl: Wait, what?
- Winn Schott: I think that you just had a good old human panic attack.
- Supergirl: That's not possible. No, I'm... I'm stronger than that.
- Winn Schott: Look, she got in your head, okay? And now she's forcing you to live through some serious trauma. That is gonna take a toll on anyone. I don't care if you're the strongest person in the world. It's... look, it's nothing to be ashamed of.
- Kara Danvers: I don't know how to fight this one. And I should be able to stop her, but... but then she makes her way into my mind, and... and forces me to re-live the scariest moment of my life. It's... it's torture. How am I supposed to deal with that?
- Alex Danvers: Well... by remembering that your fears don't define you. You know, who you are as Supergirl, who you are as Kara, that's what defines you. And she's got nothing on that.
- Kara Danvers: No. Who I am as Kara feels broken. I lost Mon-El. Lena keeps asking me where I'm going, which is new and horrible. Alex, I'm trying to be myself again, but everything that used to make me feel good feels like... like a relief that is... it's disappeared.
- Alex Danvers: It's not always gonna feel like that, I promise.
- Kara Danvers: My life as Supergirl is the one thing I can count on. I can go out there and help people. I can make a difference in the world. I can... feel strong, even though a huge part of me feels so weak, and she's taking that away from me. And if I don't have Supergirl, what do I have?
- Alex Danvers: You got me.
- Alex Danvers: Why didn't you tell me that you saw Krypton? That... that you were having panic attacks?
- Kara Danvers: I didn't want you to worry.
- Alex Danvers: You fight the most dangerous and evil people on the planet, so I'm kind of always gonna worry.
- Eve Teschmacher: Ms. Luthor. It's so nice to see you.
- Lena Luthor: Eve Teschmascher, right?
- Eve Teschmacher: [with a thrilled giggle that Lena knows who she is] Sorry. I'm a huge admirer of yours.
- Lena Luthor: Thank you, Eve.
- Eve Teschmacher: Oh, uh, can I get you a coffee? You take it black, right? I... I'm... I'm not stalking you. I e-mailed your assistant at L-Corp about all your favorite things.
- Lena Luthor: Oh.
- Eve Teschmacher: I hate salmon, too.
- Lena Luthor: Well, thank you. Yes, a coffee would be lovely.
- Eve Teschmacher: [turning to leave] Great.
- Lena Luthor: Uh, Eve, why don't you just use this elevator? It goes straight to the ground floor.
- Eve Teschmacher: Oh, no. Only the boss can use it.
- Lena Luthor: [with an amused laugh] That's just silly. Anybody who needs it should be able to use it.
- Winn Schott: I thought you couldn't read Kryptonian minds.
- J'onn J'onzz: I can't, but I can scan her mind for residual psychic activity.
- Winn Schott: Just remind me to get you a "World's Best Boss" mug.
- Supergirl: I killed him.
- Alex Danvers: No.
- Supergirl: It's him in the pod, not me.
- Alex Danvers: Mon-El?
- Supergirl: I killed him.
- Alex Danvers: No.
- Supergirl: [crying] I killed him. It was me. He's dead. He's dead. I know he's dead. I know it! If he were alive, we would have heard from him. We would have gotten a message. That tiny pod. I put him in there and he died. He died. I killed him. I killed him. I killed him.
- Alex Danvers: He's not dead.
- Supergirl: I killed him!
- Alex Danvers: He is alive. Okay? I... I... I know it. I... I don't know where, I... I don't know how, but I just... I know he's alive. You saved him. Okay? Just like your mom saved you when she put you in that pod. She knew you were gonna be okay. She knew you were gonna live. Mon-El is alive because of you.
- Supergirl: I saved him?
- Alex Danvers: Yeah.
- Supergirl: I need to talk to you.
- Winn Schott: [she leads him into an empty hall] Ooh, this is very covert ops. What's up?
- Supergirl: I... I know how she's doing it. I felt it this time. She's targeting people's fear.
- Winn Schott: How... how... how do you know that?
- Supergirl: I saw my mother. I saw... Krypton explode. I re-lived my last moments there. And then... being stuck floating through space for so long, knowing I could never have my life back... Psi put me back in that pod. Completely trapped and alone. It was... it was so quiet. Silence was the worst part. I felt completely cut off from everything and everyone I've ever known. We... we have to stop her, Winn.
- Winn Schott: You should tell J'onn and Alex.
- Supergirl: No, they can't know. They'll... they'll just worry. You have to be the one to solve this. That's why I'm telling you.
- Winn Schott: I got our girl. Gayle Marsh, law-abiding citizen of Skokie, Illinois until one day she snapped and went on a bank robbing spree. Uh, let's see... authorities nicknamed her "Psi" after a string of "psi"cologically enhanced robberies which ravaged a series of small-town banks throughout the Midwest a couple of months ago.
- Alex Danvers: Where do we go from here?
- Winn Schott: Well, now that we know a little bit more, I thought I might start trying to adapt our psychic dampening technology to stop her.
- J'onn J'onzz: Good work, Agent Schott.
- Winn Schott: I still love it when he calls me that.
- Alex Danvers: [finding Kara and Winn in the medical suite] Hey, what are you guys doing up here?
- Winn Schott: Just talking. We're hanging out. Just being friends.
- Supergirl: Thanks. I have to go. Sorry.
- Winn Schott: Yeah. Mm-hmm. I'm good. Thanks for asking.
- [seeing Alex's stoic expression]
- Winn Schott: Just a normal day in the DEO. Man... nothing abnormal going on.
- [backing away as she advances in an intimidating manner]
- Winn Schott: I mean, uh, Kara... Kara is... she's fine. Right? I mean, she's not totally, completely fine, like in the normal sense of the word if you know what I'm saying. You said J'onn was looking for me. I'm... I'm just gonna go ahead and tell you everything.
- Alex Danvers: What are you doing?
- Kara Danvers: It's a Kryptonian meditation. We say an ancient mantra to strengthen our mind.
- Alex Danvers: Hmm. Never seen you do that before.
- Kara Danvers: I've never felt like I needed it.
- Kara Danvers: I think I need to apologize for my behavior earlier. And you're right. I have a lot more baggage about Mon-El than I previously thought. It's not knowing what happened to him that's the hardest.
- Lena Luthor: I know it can't be easy.
- Kara Danvers: You were just trying to be a good friend to me and I bit your head off, and I'm...
- Lena Luthor: This is new for me, too.
- Kara Danvers: Working with friends?
- Lena Luthor: No. Having friends. Luthors don't have friends, we have minions. And also, I... think there's gonna be a... a learning curve for both jobs.
- Kara Danvers: No. No, Lena. Today you were a really good friend, and a great boss. Honestly.
- Lena Luthor: Thank you. I'd really like to give you a hug, but I'm afraid I'll show favoritism.
- Kara Danvers: Uh, screw that. Come here. Bring it in.
- Alex Danvers: It is not a personal attack on your taste.
- Maggie Sawyer: Oh, I wasn't even thinking that until you just suggested it.
- Alex Danvers: It's a fact! Okay? Winn.
- Winn Schott: Hmm?
- Alex Danvers: Back me up.
- Winn Schott: I don't think I should get involved.
- Maggie Sawyer: Because you're on my side, aren't you?
- Alex Danvers: Oh, yeah, right.
- Winn Schott: Well...
- Alex Danvers: What? Wait... Winn, how could... I saved your life!
- Winn Schott: Yeah, but, like, so has everybody else here.
- J'onn J'onzz: [breaking up Alex and Maggie's argument] What is this all about?
- Alex Danvers: We can't agree on one very important wedding detail. Band or DJ?
- J'onn J'onzz: The human mind reacts to music very much like other stimuli. Taste, smells. The song doesn't sound exactly the way you're used to hearing it. You enjoy it less, and are therefore less likely to get jiggy on the dance floor. I say DJ.
- Maggie Sawyer: Oh, come on.
- Winn Schott: Did you just say "jiggy"?
- Maggie Sawyer: She hit two banks back to back.
- Supergirl: Where are the guards?
- Alex Danvers: Unconscious on the floor.
- Supergirl: Any leads on how she took 'em out?
- Winn Schott: Well, we thought it might be gas.
- Maggie Sawyer: But toxicity came back negative.
- J'onn J'onzz: According to reports, she walked right in the front door. No weapons of any kind. Everyone just cleared out of the way and let her take whatever she wanted.
- Kara Danvers: Lena, welcome to CatCo.
- Lena Luthor: [Kara hands her a gift] You didn't have to do that.
- Kara Danvers: It's a Danvers family tradition. First day of school, you get a... a planner.
- Lena Luthor: Well, it's lovely. In the Luthor house on the first day, we'd hire a private investigator to make sure our teachers' credentials are up-to-date.
- Supergirl: I felt like the walls of the vault were closing in on me. Like I was suffocating.
- Alex Danvers: Sounds like she made you feel claustrophobic.
- Supergirl: Claustrophobia is a human problem.
- Alex Danvers: Well, you used to have episodes like that sometimes when you first came to Earth.
- Supergirl: That was a long time ago. So we need to find out who she is and how we track her.
- J'onn J'onzz: Well, at the moment, you're our best clue.
- Lena Luthor: [Kara leaves in the middle of a conversation] Where is she going?
- James Olsen: She's a reporter. She's doing her job. Now, did you think that I didn't want to be there, is that why you didn't tell me?
- Lena Luthor: Well, to be honest, I thought you would be too busy to act as my chaperone.
- James Olsen: I don't want to chaperone you. I don't consider myself a chaperone. I consider myself the person who's been running this company for a year.
- Lena Luthor: All right, Mr. Olsen. I have a meeting with the advertising department in twenty minutes. I'll see you there.
- James Olsen: See you in nineteen.
- Lena Luthor: Twenty will be fine.
- Supergirl: What did you do to them?
- Gayle Marsh: I only wanted to play. But they didn't want to play with me.
- Supergirl: Well, you're not getting away with it.
- Gayle Marsh: Oh. You think you're the cat and I'm the bird. You got it backwards.
- Principal Coburn: There was some kind of argument between the girls that started before morning bell. It got very heated outside their lockers, and Ruby hit Stephanie.
- Samantha Arias: Okay, when you say "hit", I mean how did she hit her? Did she push her?
- Principal Coburn: Oh, no. She punched her in the face.
- Alex Danvers: Tell me there's something you can do.
- J'onn J'onzz: I can try and create a psychic shield to protect her mind from the attacks.
- Alex Danvers: It'll work?
- J'onn J'onzz: I don't know.
- Gayle Marsh: [sensing his presence] Someone else has come to play.
- Supergirl: J'onn.
- Gayle Marsh: Mind over matter.
- Supergirl: [disoriented] What are you doing to me?
- Gayle Marsh: Fear is a powerful tool.
- Gayle Marsh: Lady bird, lady bird, fly away home. Your house is on fire and your children, they will burn.
- Gayle Marsh: What did you see? I wonder. What brought the Girl of Steel to her knees?
- Supergirl: A lie.
- Gayle Marsh: Fear is not a lie.
- [she sends a psychic wave, but Supergirl remains unfazed]
- Supergirl: [trying again each time] Fear cripples, annihilates spirits. It is the only weapon that matters. Fear made me stronger than you. No one is safe from it. Why aren't you scared anymore?
- Supergirl: Mind over matter.
- [she headbutts Gayle]
- Ruby Arias: Do you remember the other day at the waterfront?
- Samantha Arias: Yeah, I remember.
- Ruby Arias: Did anybody help you with that tower?
- Samantha Arias: Nope. Just me.
- Ruby Arias: It was pretty huge.
- Samantha Arias: It was pretty huge. I was just so worried about you. You know, moms, um, they get this adrenaline rush when their kids are in danger. I had the strength of, I don't know, like, ten moms.
- Ruby Arias: I think it would have taken thirty moms.
- Samantha Arias: It's not a big deal. You will understand when you have kids.
- Alex Danvers: You know, I think I met you at the waterfront last week. What's your name again?
- Ruby Arias: Ruby.
- Alex Danvers: How could I forget that? I'm Alex. Did you know that rubies are one of the toughest gemstones?
- Ruby Arias: Only diamonds are tougher.
- Alex Danvers: She's smart and she's tough. It's a deadly combo.
- [they fist bump]
- Samantha Arias: Why is it so important to you that I have superpowers? Hmm? Putting yourself in danger like that, I don't... I don't even want to think about what could have happened.
- Ruby Arias: I thought you would save me.
- Samantha Arias: Baby, if I had superpowers, I would have swept you right out of there. But I don't. I don't.
- Ruby Arias: Do you think Supergirl has a job?
- Samantha Arias: Maybe. I don't know. Did you think that I wouldn't have to work if I had superpowers?
- Ruby Arias: You would just save people and spend time with me.
- Samantha Arias: Baby, I will always spend time with you. Superpowers or not. You are the most important thing in the world to me. Never, ever forget that.
- Supergirl: [down in vault] Got you cornered.
- Gayle Marsh: Do you?
- Supergirl: What did you do to them up there?
- Gayle Marsh: I only wanted to play. But they didn't want to play with me.
- Supergirl: Well, you're not getting away with it.
- Gayle Marsh: Oh? You think you're the cat, and I'm the bird.
- [smirks]
- Gayle Marsh: You got it backwards.
- [takes bag]
- Gayle Marsh: You could join me. Maybe then you'll be happy. You see, money equals happiness. More money, more happiness.
- Supergirl: Your priorities are seriously out of whack.
- Gayle Marsh: [scoffs] I know, right?
- [laughs merrily]
- Supergirl: Put the bag down.
