In a world replete with quick-spreading disinformation and the subsequent, dangerous proliferation of kooky conspiracy theories, the 2021 animated series "Inside Job" — created by Shion Takeuchi (a writer on "Gravity Falls" and "Disenchantment") — was perfectly timed. "Inside Job" posited that every single conspiracy theory you've ever heard — whether it be Reptilians, JFK, the Mandela effect, the flat Earth, or the faked moon landing — were all 100 percent real. Clones were out there, severed heads were being kept alive in labs, and aliens regularly visited Earth. Just like in "The X-Files," ordinary citizens weren't allowed access to this knowledge.
Earth's conspiracies were overseen by a mysterious underground organization called Cognito, Inc., one of six major shadow governments secretly in charge of the world. The other five were the Catholic Church, the Illuminati, Atlantis, the Reptoids, and the Juggalos (tee hee). The central joke of "Inside Job" was that Cognito, Inc. was staffed by flawed,...

After being a box office stable for decades, Arnold Schwarzenegger is finally coming to the world of television. Netflix has released the first trailer for “Fubar,” its upcoming action comedy about a CIA operative who joins his daughter for one final mission. The eight-episode series is set to premiere on the streaming service May 25.
The first few seconds of the “Fubar” trailer make it look like your typical Schwarzenegger movie. Luke (Schwarzenegger) is captured by a group of thugs who seem hellbent on making him pay. Seconds later, he breaks free and makes good on his promise to “kill all of you and then leave.” Back at the CIA, he’s surrounded by adoring co-workers who are happy to celebrate his impending retirement. But all of his happiness fades when Luke learns that his daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) has followed in his footsteps to join this highly secretive and dangerous world.

Exclusive: America’s longest-serving death row inmate, Tommy Zeigler, and his fight for exoneration after nearly 50 years behind bars on a murder conviction, are getting the documentary treatment courtesy of award-winning directors David Van Taylor (A Perfect Candidate) and Marlon Johnson (River City Drumbeat).
Producers on the film, Blood and Judgment (w/t), include Andy Breckman — the four-time Emmy nominee known for creating the hit USA Network comedy series, Monk — and Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver from Left/Right, a North Road company (The New York Times Presents: Framing Britney Spears).
Blood and Judgment asks whether Zeigler is a criminal mastermind, or the victim of an ingenious frame-up. Its story is thrust into motion on Christmas Eve 1975, as a multiple homicide unfolds in a locked furniture store outside of Orlando, Florida. Amid the chaotic, bloody crime scene — four bodies, eight guns, 28 bullets — a young detective soon settles on a surprising suspect.

This review of “Top Gun: Maverick” was first published on May 12, 2022, after its premiere at Cannes Film Festival.
The young pilots in “Top Gun: Maverick” are warned at one point about a steep aerial climb that will subject them to massive G-force. Their bodies will feel like they weigh 2000 pounds, they are told, with their skulls crushing their spines, and breathing will feel like an elephant is on their chests pressing down on their lungs.
It’s a sensation not unlike the film’s relentless onslaught in its mission to entertain, delight and move audiences; “Top Gun: Maverick” resembles an amusement-park ride in all the worst ways, in that every second feels designed to provoke a response. It’s as much an entertainment machine as a roller coaster.

Starring Tom Cruise, who reprises his role as Maverick from the 1986 film, the sequel will fly into theaters May 27, 2022. Val Kilmer will also reprise the role of “Iceman.”
“#TopGunMaverick is a profound cinematic experience and easily the best film of the year,” TheWrap’s Drew Taylor wrote. “What Kosinski, @chrismcquarrie, @eddiehamilton and of course @TomCruise have accomplished is epic and intimate, heart stopping and heartbreaking. The planned spy series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger has been set up at Netflix for development, Variety has confirmed.
The series, which hails from Nick Santora and Skydance Television, is described as a global spy adventure with a father and daughter at the center of the story. Monica Barbaro is attached to play Schwarzenegger’s daughter in the show. Should it go to series, it would mark the first regular television role of Schwarzenegger’s career. Santora created the show and will executive produce as part of his overall deal with Skydance TV. He is also attached as showrunner on fellow Skydance show “Jack Reacher,” which is set up at Amazon. Schwarzenegger is executive producing alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bill Bost for Skydance.

Netflix has produced many hit TV shows over the past seven years, ever since they started pumping out their own original programming. However, the streaming service has developed a reputation for not letting its series go on for too long. Fans know to be wary of getting attached to their favorite new Netflix shows as they could be unceremoniously cancelled after one or two seasons.
Earlier today, for instance, Hilary Swank vehicle Away was given the chop by the company after just a single outing. This makes it the 56th original series that Netflix has cancelled. That number only includes shows that were original to the platform and produced in-house, so it doesn’t count pick-ups like Lucifer, for example. Those series luckily enough to end on the creators’ own terms, such as House of Cards, are likewise not included. Shows that were axed by Netflix before being picked up elsewhere,...

Last month, the word arrived that a globetrotting action-orientated spy show was in the works from Scorpion creator and Jack Ryan showrunner Nick Santora. While that was hardly groundbreaking news in itself, it came with the huge announcement that Arnold Schwarzenegger would play the lead role in what marks the 73 year-old’s first ever appearance as a series regular.
As one of the action genre’s most legendary figures and a genuine Hollywood icon, the news that Schwarzenegger would be heading to the small screen instantly made the still-untitled project one to keep a very close eye on. Spy shows are everywhere these days and many of them are so similar as to be interchangeable, but none of them can boast the star of The Terminator, Commando, The Running Man, Total Recall and True Lies in the lead.
There’s still no word on whether the series will be heading...
