MAINSTREAM, presented by MATRIX ENTERTAINMENT in association with OATH KEEPERS was a very challenging documentary to produce. Many of the talents the producers asked to interview ran like rats on a sinking ship as most in "The Biz" are afraid to participate in a movie that's critical of "The Biz." Ironically, MAINSTREAM champions the movie business, its glorious beginnings and especially those independent producers, directors, screenwriters, actors, crews and distributors that add originality and diversity.
The producers called many "name" actors, directors, producers and studio execs to interview for MAINSTREAM and the only one that had the courage to interview was studio contract player and TV star, Sam Chew. All the rest ran like rats on a sinking ship. You know their names. Just as many of them turned a blind eye to the misdeeds of Harvey Weinstein, true to form the same "name" have turned a blind eye to the predatory behavior in Hollywood at the executive level and union levels. Thus, if one wants to "work in this town again," they must submit to the interests, values, cultural perspectives and prejudices of the 18 or so executives that perpetuate the system and control the studios, as discussed in MAINSTREAM and in the works of attorney, John W. Cones and authors Ben Bagdikian and Neals Gabler.
