A return to form.
Sleepin_Dragon6 May 2021
I'm not sure I was as bowled over by this second episode as my fellow reviewers were. Episode one was pedestrian in terms of its pacing, and the first half of this continued in the same manner, however the latter parts of this episode felt more so like traditional Line of Duty. First half slow, second half excellent.

Is this going to be the last hurrah? I hope that's not the case, but this does have somewhat of a final feel to it, we are getting lots of faces from the past, some are partly active, some seem very active, Ryan surely has a big part to play.

The acting was flawless, Kelly MacDonald was tremendous once again, she's following some amazing predecessors, and doing a superb job.

Kate... I'm intrigued to know just where she is in all of this.

A mixed bag, but on the whole very good, 8/10.

Mother of god! Well episode 2 was a big step up from episode 1, still not much action however characters from previous series' returned and it felt like a proper line of duty episode. You're in for a treat. This series is gonna be great fellas!

WOW

Even by Line of Duty's high standards, episode 2 was simply off the scale. As good an episode as there has been over all previous series's. Counting the hours till next week.

Mind the gap

Perhaps having watched 31 episodes in 10 days, it has taken its toll on me. It is difficult to get as excited about this series as the hype in the media suggests.

I suspect that the Covid pandemic hit during the making of this episode with hairstyles changing and Hastings gaining a suntan during the course of the hour.

We are now two episodes in and this storyline hasn't grabbed me as yet.

I am sure we are all glad that the show has made our screens at all but, as with all recently made shows, I know I will spend the rest of the series looking to see if people are socially distanced which makes a change from the game of trying to identify the filming location.

Well worth following though.

A real improvement from the first episode

It's back. Line of Duty has stepped back to its own past high standards. AC-12 and the interview scenes are much more present this episode and it's not just focused on world building.

A return from a necessary episode one.

Episode one had to reveal change but episode two was a return to normal. The intrigue, complexity of dialogue ant the interviews, the interviews, bring LOD back. Its uniqueness is outstanding. Get those bent coppers, Hastings. It's what you do.

Back to normal ,thank goodness

After a truly appalling first episode, we are now back to the Line Of Duty we were addicted to in the previous 5 seasons! I nearly didn't bother watching this one but would recommend all disappointed by last week's mediocre offering should give it a go. You'll be glad you did.

Much better

After a bad start this episode had us back to AC-12 at its best.

Great acting, few acronyms and believable events and interviews.

Twists and turns we would expect plus the inevitable links back to previous series.

Roll on next Sunday.

Episode 6.2

Warning: Spoilers
After a quieter than normal series opener. Episode two raised the heat a little and bought a few more characters from previous episodes.

That darn foul mouth kid from the first series, Ryan Pilkington is now a copper. He tried to cut Arnott's fingers off back in the day.

It looks like Fleming has clocked Ryan but she also upsets Hastings and Arnott when she impedes their investigation.

DCI Joanne Davidson comes in for the fabled interrogation with AC-12 but she has a few tricks up her sleeve.

It certainly looks like Davidson is league even if its reluctantly with organised crime. Cunningly she frames her ex with planted burner phones.

No big shocks or surprises so far. I do think something major will come up in future episodes.

AC-12 IS BACK
iamsankho29 March 2021
The second episode is what line of duty actually is about, the thrill, intensity , and those interrogations- Boy o boy I love those 😍. The stage is set now, hopefully the rest episodes will be great as this one.

Well made episode with good character moments
snoozejonc12 April 2023
AC12 starts investigating a case conducted by the Murder Investigation Team.

The plot does not move significantly until the final scene, but it generates interest in the behaviour of the lead guest characters.

I might be suffering a bit of Line of Duty fatigue, caused by bingeing the show over the past few months, but at this point in the narrative, certain aspects feel marginally stale, such as the mysterious (bent or not) copper central to the story and the plot-convenient tactical errors made by AC12 (Arnott talking to Fleming). The great interrogation scenes continue to be well staged and performed, but having watched so many, this one does not quite have the same impact as previous.

For me it feels like the bigger picture of main conspiracy needs to be moved towards a resolution in the next few episodes.

I think Kelly McDonald, Adrian Dunbar and Anneika Rose are the standout performers, with Dunbar largely carrying the episode for me with his entertaining delivery of various lines.

Moving pictures
horst6931 March 2021
There is a new thing now, called moving pictures .

Basically it allows film makers to tell a story by other means than having the actors spell it out for the viewers word by word .

Granted, there was little story worth telling, but even just sitting around tables all the time the actors weren't able to tell it well .

This really is convoluted babbling about nothing, randomly interupted by people making a facial expression of sorts, and no hint of coherent story telling .

Maybe the creators should do a youtube podcast with an animated slideshow instead .

Just kidding, they already did, sold it to TV and got paid for it well I suspect .

Clones?
Does anyone else think it's funny/weird/creepy that Perry Fitzpatrick in season 6 is basically a few years younger clone of Craig Parkinson from the first few seasons. Same physicality, manner, character's role, even accent. Not to mention they just look identical. Purposely casted to duplicate Parkinson, or does the casting director just have a type?

Disconnected from Last Season
jblupilot16 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
S6E1 started with characters out of place or transferred. One storyline starts with the dissolution of a relationship we got a hint of but we were never vested in. Again, picking up on storylines that we have to assume were ongoing and not told at the start of season 6 makes it all a bit jumbled. Season 5 was like a rollercoaster starting at a slow climb for 5 episodes with the ending feeling like an abrupt drop of the roller coaster that has you hanging on the edge till the end. This season is disjointed. I'm not sure what's left to uncover. Well there's the new bent officer that has made an appearance and if there were 4 at the top, there's one senior officer that's being controlled by organized crime. We don't know if that's DCI Hastings.
