Welcome to this week’s Nxt review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have Disney + for all those people who don’t want the luxury of owning something forever, instead wanting to rent a computer program version of it for $10 a month. I know, you get thousands of options, but there’s too many problems with streaming for me to commit to it above more convenient options like home video. Anyway, Nxt is on and I love trash. One may or may not have to do with the other.
Match #1: Breezango def. Chase Parker & Matt Martel The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
New Nxt tag team Chase Parker & Matt Martel are one of Canada’s longest-tenured and most-decorated duos — the two Superstars teamed for well over 15 years before coming to Nxt and held titles throughout the Great White North — but even their extensive...

Match #1: Keith Lee beat Kona Reeves The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
After giving Keith Lee a hostile reception two weeks ago, Kona Reeves received a lesson in respect from Nxt’s Limitless Superstar inside the ring. Despite Lee’s dominant track record, The Finest was characteristically arrogant throughout the contest, running his mouth any time the opportunity presented itself. Lee made Reeves pay early in the bout when he threw him out of the ring with a suplex, but Reeves soon gained the advantage by tossing the ring skirt over Lee’s head, leaving the big man vulnerable to The Finest’s fistic fury.

Match #1: Kassius Ohno def. Kona Reeves The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
The Knockout Artist, who has been decrying the lack of big opportunities to come his way in recent months, defeated one of his toughest challenges of late, “The Finest” Kona Reeves, in a supremely hard-hitting duel. Though Reeves talked plenty of trash throughout the match, even taunting Ohno with claims that “no one cares about you,” Ohno was dangerously focused. The Finest found that out after Ohno escaped Reeves’ Hawaiian Drop and hammered him with...

ABC is developing a drama series with Regina King attached to direct and executive produce, Variety has learned exclusively.
Currently titled “Warriors,” the one-hour project hails from Michael Narducci. It takes place in a Midwestern community where two friends–a semi-retired NFL player and an idealistic high school principal–will attempt to overcome their conflicting styles of teaching as they mentor a new generation and confront the long buried sins of their past.
Narducci would executive produce in addition to writing, with Michael J. McDonald also attached to executive produce along with King. Former pro football player Wade Davis will co-executive produce. ABC Studios will produce along with King’s Royal Ties and McDonald’s Stearns Castle. Narducci, McDonald, and King are all under overall deals with ABC Studios.
The project reunites McDonald and King, who previously worked together on the critically-acclaimed ABC series “American Crime.” King starred in that...

Welcome to this week’s Nxt review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and I hope you enjoy Ring of Honor’s dollar menu… I mean Nxt. There’s that thing about the delete button again. People are going to think I don’t like Nxt. That’s not true… I just don’t trust any words that have no vowels.
Match #1: Heavy Machinery def. The Mighty The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
With Tucker Knight back in action after a sneak attack put him on the shelf several weeks ago, Heavy Machinery were looking to score payback against Knight’s presumed assailants, The Mighty. Once he got into the ring, Knight took out his frustrations on Shane Thorne & Nick Miller, dropping both Mighty members with clotheslines, side slams and a cannonball splash from the ring apron to the floor. Exclusive: Amirah Vann, who recurred heavily in the fourth season of ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder, has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming fifth season of the Shondaland drama.
Vann plays Tegan Price, an attorney working with Caplan & Gold. She was introduced in Episode 3 and appeared in 10 of the 15 episodes from the thriller drama’s fourth season, including the season finale. In it, Tegan was revealed as a whistleblower to the FBI. Per standard Shondaland practice, no details about Tegan’s storyline in Season 5 are being revealed beyond the fact that she will complicate the lives of the show’s characters.
Vann is the second new series regular cast addition on Htgawm next season, joining Rome Flynn, who was promoted after guest starring in the Season 4 finale.

As NBC just kicked off pilot-to-series pickups this afternoon with medical drama New Amsterdam, here is the final installment of Deadline’s annual feature that tracks buzz on broadcast pilots. With networks wrapping up pilot screenings, their executives will have the weekend to mull over their choices before the wave of series pickups next week.
Every year there are late pilot-season surprises that shake up the field. Fox’s bid to resurrect former ABC comedy series Last Man Standing starring Tim Allen is one such twist. The growing momentum to get the multi-camera sitcom on the air next season has helped a seemingly dormant pilot, the off-cycle multi-camera Cool Kids, from the It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia team. The retirement-home comedy largely had kept a low profile despite solid testing and screenings. But it is considered a very suitable companion to Last Man Standing, which makes it a strong contender.

Here is the second installment of Deadline’s Pilot Panic 2018 that tracks buzz on broadcast pilots. A month before the upfronts, cuts have finally started to come in, but it’s still early, with some multi-camera comedy pilots yet to shoot and network execs just starting to see the finished pilots. That’s why the information below is preliminary. By end of next week, we should start getting a fuller picture of where most pilots stand.
ABC’s DJ Nash ensemble A Million Little Things and the Eva Longoria-produced Grand Hotel, toplined by Demian Bichir and Roselyn Sanchez, continue to gain early momentum on the drama side. Several cop projects also are heating up. That includes pilots The Finest aka Holmes Sisters, The Mission, as well as the Nathan Fillion starrer The Rookie, which has a straight-to-series order. Beyond that, mystery Salvage, about an ex-cop, has gotten some traction,...

It’s April, so Deadline is launching its annual Pilot Panic feature where we track buzz on the broadcast pilots as they go through filming, editing, screenings and testing. As usual, the first story is very sketchy and preliminary as many drama pilots still are filming, several comedy pilots have not shot yet and there are no cuts in. Here is a list of some pilots that are getting strong early buzz based on a combination of auspices, script, table read, taping or dailies. Because of how early it is, please take the information with big grain of salt. For a number of projects, especially high-concept dramas, it’s impossible to predict their chances until the pilot has been cut together.
On the hourlong side, ABC has the Nathan Fillion starrer The Rookie, which has a straight-to-series order and has been well received so far. Of the pilots, Courtney Kemp...
