And It Hits the Fan
GunnersMate13 November 2018
While the decription "Just Plain Mad" is attributed to one character in particular during the episode, this offering's title applies to just about everyone at this stage of the camp out. Walt's birthday has finally arrived and an apparent critter has pilfered the food supply, so Kathryn literally tears up her published schedule and drags a number of her fellow campers into town to pick up groceries for the birthday dinner. And with this fairly simple setting, it all starts to hit the fan. Pent up anger, frustrations, fears, and a grocery list emotions start breaking through, character by character; but the most pervasive emotion is anger. This should be an emotional tipping point for the series as we prepare to slide into the last few episodes of the story arc, but (once again) an apparent lack of writing skills yields to a plethora of boring foul-language which does nothing to advance the plot lines or advance the characters. So much more could be addressed and explored in this series if the pages of script were filled with more interesting story-telling. The best moments of this episode are from Walt and Carleen, whose emotional restraint and genuinely kind hearts are finally outwardly showing the strain. If only the whole of the episode reflected the shining of the best parts.
