Henry Fambrough, the last surviving original member of the great, hit-making R&b vocal group The Spinners, died yesterday at his home in northern Virginia. He was 85.
His death was announced on the group’s Instagram page. No cause was given, but the announcement notes that Fambrough died peacefully.
Fambrough, whose rich baritone could be easily discerned in the group’s signature vocal mix on hits such as “I’ll Be Around,” “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love?” and “One of a Kind (Love Affair),” formed the Domingoes, the group that would become the Spinners, in 1954 with his suburban Detroit friends Billy Henderson, Pervis Jackson, C.P. Spencer and James Edwards.
Various personnel changes would take place over the next 20 years before the group settled into into what would be its classic and most successful five-man line-up with Fambrough, Henderson, Jackson, Bobbie Smith, and Philippé Wynne.

"You People" is the latest comedy to take over Netflix. The movie - which features the star-studded cast of Jonah Hill, Lauren London, Eddie Murphy, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus - is about a young couple named Amira and Ezra who want to get married but are hoping to get their parents' approval first. Since they come from two very different backgrounds, that's easier said than done.
If you've already watched the film, you probably recognize London from movies like "Atl," "I Love You, Beth Cooper," "This Christmas," and, more recently, "Without Remorse." Her TV credits also include shows like "The Game," "Games People Play," and "True Story."
Outside of her acting career, London prefers to keep her personal life private, though she has been in a few public relationships over the years. Since entering the spotlight in the early 2000s, she's dated some famous musicians, with her most recent relationship being with the late Nipsey Hussle.

Few country songs have had the success of Lady A’s classic 2009 hit “Need You Now.” The song was a massive hit at its time, peaking at number-two on the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming one of the most digitally downloaded songs ever. Its success translated into four Grammy wins, including Record and Song of the Year. However, no other country song has won the top categories since, despite hits like Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant to Be,” Gabby Barrett’s “I Hope,” Sam Hunt’s “Body Like A Back Road,” and Dan and Shay’s “Tequila” being nearly as successful in recent years. What made “Need You Now” beat the odds for its win, and when can we expect another country song to take top honors?
First things first, we need to look at country’s history in Record and Song of the Year. Five country songs...

In the weeks following the inaugural edition of the Key Buyers Event, a showcase for new Russian productions held in Moscow last fall, Roskino CEO Evgenia Markova reached out to scores of international guests who had made the trip to the Russian capital. After what was largely perceived as a successful event, in which dozens of Russian titles sold to foreign buyers, Markova wanted to understand what else the film promotion body could do to support the continued growth of the Russian industry.
One piece of advice stood out. “Not many Russian names are known abroad,” says Markova. The consensus among many of the buyers in attendance was that “this is definitely what [Roskino] should work on: you should promote your actors, your producers, your directors. You should show the world you exist.”

Exclusive: In many ways, location scouts and managers were the canaries in the coal mine for the industry’s coronavirus shutdown. As news accounts reported the spread of the virus, first in Asia and then in the U.S., homes and businesses began closing their doors to location shoots. It happened slowly at first, and then all at once. Scouts and managers, represented by Hollywood’s Teamsters Local 399, also were among the first in the industry to apply for newly expanded unemployment benefits – up from the maximum of $450 a week to $1,050 a week for the next four months.
Deadline reached out to location scouts and managers to see how they’re coping with the shutdown, and if they’ve started getting the extra $600 a week in employment benefits allocated by Congress in the $2 trillion relief bill. For those who had been working, most received two weeks of shutdown pay, so...

Exclusive: STXalternative, a division of Robert Simonds’ Stx Entertainment, has signed a first-look development and production deal with Tracey Edmonds and her Edmonds Entertainment, to co-produce and co-develop scripted and unscripted content for traditional and alternative platforms. The first project under the pact is previously announced Game Divas Play, airing on Bet in 2019, with a diverse slate of projects to follow.
Based on the popular book of the same name by Angela Burt-Murray, Games Divas Play is a stylized drama about the high stakes world of the NBA that follows a desperate basketball wife (Lauren London) trying to protect her family, a tenacious journalist (Karen Obilom) struggling to rebuild a tarnished career, and a scandalous groupie (Parker McKenna Posey) looking to become a star at all costs.
Edmonds is executive producing Games Divas Play through her Edmonds Entertainment banner, along with Burt-Murray. Emmy nominee and Evp of Edmonds Entertainment, Vanessa Middleton wrote the pilot and is an executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Kim Newton.
“Tracey Edmonds is a prolific producer and entertainment powerhouse with an incredible track record for developing compelling content across TV, film and music,” said Jason Goldberg, Chief Creative Officer of New Media Group & Alternative Content at Stx Entertainment. “Her creative expertise will be essential to Stx as we continue to build our network and expand our programming capabilities across platforms and screens, and we couldn’t be happier to kick this producing partnership off with the wildly entertaining Games Divas Play.”
“I am thrilled to be in partnership with Stx, which has truly established itself as a global entertainment leader and continues to demonstrate expertise and success across multiple platforms,” said Edmonds. “I am looking forward to working closely with Jason Goldberg and his dynamic team on a diverse slate of exciting projects that are certain to make some noise, launching first with Games Divas Play.”
Edmonds, CEO and President of Edmonds Entertainment, earned an Emmy Award for her stint as co-host on ExtraTV alongside Mario Lopez and Charissa Thompson. As a producer, Edmonds’ past projects include the hit series Deion’s Family Playbook (Own); three-time NAACP Image Award nominated With This Ring (Lifetime); and Showtime’s Soul Food based on the film, which ran for five seasons and won multiple NAACP Image Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series three years in a row. She also executive produced reality shows College Hill (Bet’s first reality show), which ran for six seasons, and its spinoff College Hill Interns; Lil’ Kim: Countdown to Lockdown; and Dmx: Soul of a Man. Edmonds’ other film successes include the hit film Jumping the Broom, which earned several NAACP Image Awards.
Stx currently has several unscripted projects in different phases of development and production at third-party networks including ABC, CBS, Fox, E!, Hulu, Facebook, Snapchat and A&E.
