One Of The Great Unsolved Mysteries Of Our Time
AudioFileZ26 October 2018
Like the sinking of the Titanic, said to be practically unsinkable,, the federal prison Alcatraz was touted to be inescapable. Both clams proved to be wrong and into the popular culture of American folklore they went.

Over many years of research since the discovery of the Titanic many of the mysteries surrounding it have been revealed. When it comes to Alcatraz and the infamous escape of the Anglin brothers very little is known. While the F.B.I. tends to believe the brothers perished in San Francisco Bay it can not be proven due to a lack of evidence. The Anglin brothers bodies were never recovered and it is still conceivable they could have survived and disappeared. For those reasons the case of the Anglin brothers escape from Alcatraz is still open 50-years later. Because of this the escape from Alcatraz still holds a unique place in history.

Using ithis ontinuing popularity Alcatraz is still much talked about and ,in certain months, the prison remains a tourist destination. This is a real open mystery of American history making it the best kind of folklore rooted in reality. Enter this show which looks at more recent revelations by Anglin relatives.

Of interest is two nephews of John and Clarence Anglin who in this program bring forth some interesting artifacts they believe is evidence the two brothers survived their escape. It is somewhat compelling and would be more so if it could be further corroborated. As it is anything providing good intel more than a half-century on must be considered. I'd say the nephews Christmas cards is shaky though interesting. Better is the story and associated pictures from Brazil given to the Anglin family by Fred Brizze. Fred, who actually knew the brothers many years earlier, stumbled on to them while visiting Brazil it is said and this does have a ring of serendipitous truth. Because of the late date the nephews believe it is time to close the investigation and hopefully close it once and for all. They believe the brothers are now deceased and they would like to return their bodies to the Anglin family burial plot in Florida.

The viewer will have to be the judge of the value of the evidence presented. There is a new theory that may be actually supported by cop named Check too. It is good if not the smoking gun putting the case to rest. In this vein the show here is a worthy watch and underscores the continued interest in what is thought to be the greatest prison break in all of U.S. history. It's a great addition to the folklore if nothing more and I think, therefore, well worth a look.

The story might be acceptable "escape from Alcatraz" it could be exciting, but the playscreen is so boring and predictable. The characters are all cliché.
