This episode is fairly good

I read many complaints about propaganda, Canadian people defamation and so on. Apart from the fact that this episode is interesting and worth watching, I would advise the "offended" Canadians to get informed about The 1918 Toronto anti-Greek riot (Wikipedia). Probably, the writer was inspired by it.

Excellent & Timely

Considering all of the xenophobic activity going on in the Western world over the past several years, and especially the abrupt turn America has taken since Donald took office, the moral questions posed in this episode are particularly poignant. Watch with a xenophobic loved one.

Don't use this episode to study for a history test

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoy the Murdoch Mysteries series for the clever way they weave bits of real historical characters, events, and "inventions" into campy stories of 19th and early 20th century Canada.

Sometimes, as in this episode, the writers take the slightest jist of an historical event and completely obliterate it with "artistic license". I know, I know - it's fiction, not a docu-series or even historically accurate, but sometimes the writers are just waaaaay too heavy handed with the liberal bias. Villainous characters are always overtly racist, misogynistic, and/or callously capitalistic. You knew who the killer was the moment he's introduced. Give the viewers a little credit for intelligence. Please.

The writers of this episode could have used a little more historical fact as to why the Canadians began rioting against Greek immigrants. It had nothing to do with greedy racist building moguls or labor unions.

Before the First World War ended, some Canadian war veterans (including some injured and/or disabled by the war) were feeling displaced from society and resentful towards people perceived to be "slackers" who were not contributing to Canada's war effort. The riot stemmed from an incident in an eating establishment and some inaccurate information circulating about Greece and Greek people living in Canada. It had nothing to with "xenophobia", it had to do with Greece starting out neutral in the war, while Canadian soldiers were fighting and dying, so it was more than just "hurt feelings" that caused the rioting.

Were they right to attack Greek immigrants?? Of course not! And I'm not defending their actions. I'd just appreciate a little bit of fairness written into the storyline. Occasionally.

However, journalists more than likely fueled the fires of racial division, much like Miss Cherry does...

Enough With the Politics Already
GunnersMate12 January 2019
Murdoch Without Borders centers on Greek immigrants in Toronto and the politics which surround them. In a related subplot, Julia tries to save the life of an immigrant who has been slated for deportation. While the episode gets right onto the trail of a murder quickly, any sense of solving a mystery is largely lost for the first two thirds of the story. Instead, men are stupid and puppets of the government, women are smart and compassionate, Canadians are racist, and immigrants are good honest folk. It is one-dimensional, political, and frankly dull. When they finally get back to the business of mystery solving in the last third of the episode, things are interesting enough, but it takes too long to get there and there is very little pay off. Enough with the politics already, Murdoch Mysteries are better when the mystery and the characters we have grown to know and love are the center of the episode. Maybe next time.

Propaganda heavy

I watch this show to get away from this political agenda message. This is a cute show, but this was way over the top with the propaganda. We get it. Now can you go back to entertainment?

Political correctness run amok. And a terribly obvious "mystery."
altereggo12314 June 2019
I've watched most of the episodes of this long-running series and am not sure I can recall one this bad. It's basically a lame, cliche-ed opinion piece. Not much of a murder mystery. I don't want to ruin it for anyone who decides to subject themselves to it, but the trajectory of the plot and the culprit were painfully evident from the opening scenes and totally predictable based on the politics of writers. The scene in which the incriminating evidence is uncovered is so bad, it would be funny if it weren't so insulting to the intelligence of viewers.

If you like this show but are pressed for time, this would be a good episode to skip.
