This episode was so emotional and had a dark end to it.

This Episode mostly revolves around John going to another universe to see his son and a better family than the one he has now in the Nazi World. This episode showed how hard it was for John to join the Nazis. All the people and sacrifices he had to make just to fit into the Nazi Reich is beyond shocking. He lost his best friend Danny cause he was and Jew and the Nazis twisted Johns mind. Overall this is probably my favorite episode of this season as of right now! I've only watched up to this episode.

The meeting of John Smith with Thomas was a truly moving moment that felt genuine, thanks to the remarkable acting skills of the two lead.

Emotional SF

This is the wonder of SF, not wars in outer space, but rather the everyday made extraordinary as regular human beings at full capacity. John Smith apologizing to real people, who are ghosts to him - Sewell's acting is exceptional, as is "his" family's. I loved Dick's original book for the humanity it showed in such flawed characters - I think he would have loved this episode.

During watching last scene of the episode I was really tearful it is such a dark and emotional scene, this episode show the hidden side of john that he really hate his job

Great look back on what should've beeen

In this episode you see John Smith go to the alternate Earth where America won. In the beginning of the episode he decides to just play along with the Nazis because it was the safer way and that was the decision that changed everything for him. Through out the series you see him rise in the Nazi party but his family fall apart. In the alt-Earth he gets to witness his son still alive except this time filled with American pride instead of being a Nazi along with seeing his best friend there to watch football instead of sending him off to die in the earth he came from. I'm about to watch the next episode but I can only imagine that this has a profound impact on him. It shows how the decisions you make at the time may feel small but lead up to you sending your best friend to die and to have your son live a generally happy life in a world where he wasn't viewed as a " useless eater" as they put it in his earth. Not to mention how much more his wife was in love with him and much more amorous instead of hating him which is just as important as everything else I just stated.

The choices we make

It's certainly a rare thing when a TV show becomes more thought provoking and emotional by the latter seasons, but this series has defied by expectations in season 4.

As I watch it, I certainly wonder would I make different choices to the characters in the show?

We see that Robert and John have both betrayed their friends and yet we can still sympathise with these characters as the show goes on.

This particular episode makes you wonder whether there is a cruel irony in the universe, as if some things are just destined to be no matter what, as we see John's son leave him yet again.

Once again, it leaves you wondering if John is about to "flip" to the 'good side' despite all that he has done... However we see that the most important thing to him by far is his family, no matter whom he is serving.
