Director Chad Lowe had a recurring role in season three as Thomas Coville, a religious leader who created a cult with Supergirl as its central figure of worship.
Lena uses the alias "Dr. Kieran" when interacting with Adam. This is a reference to the DC/Vertigo comic series Sandman Mystery Theatre:Sleep of Reason, in which photojournalist Kieran Marshall briefly takes on the identity of the Sandman to battle terrorists in Afghanistan. Kieran is also Lena's middle name and heavily implied from this episode to be the surname of her biological mother.
