Onyx Collective has boarded Candice Carty-Williams’ buzzy British drama series Queenie.
Disney Entertainment’s brand has joined Channel 4 in the UK on the show, which the British network ordered back in August 2021. Onyx Collective curates global stories from artists of color with a culturally specific point of view, which aligns with Carty-Williams’ story.
Queenie will air in the UK and Ireland on Channel 4 and stream exclusively on Hulu in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ in all other territories. Steve November’s Further South Productions is attached to produce in association with Lionsgate TV, which has international sales rights, and cast has also been set. Shooting began in late April.
Writer Carty-Williams is emerging as one of the UK’s most sought after new scribes. Netflix last year boarded her BBC series Champion, which is billed as “a love letter to Black British music.”

Blanchard’s first opera, Champion tells the story of Griffith’s rise from obscurity to world champion, his struggle with his sexuality, and how a knockout of a homophobic rival in the early 1960s led to tragedy.

Episode 6 of “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” will air Monday night on NBC, with the final set of 10 acts (out of 60 total acts) taking the stage in front of judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum and host Terry Crews. Remember, this week there is No Golden Buzzer, so only one act will advance thanks to the “AGT” superfans (whose votes are revealed at the end of the episode). That means the other nine artists will sadly be cut from the competition.
So who’s performing on February 6 on “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars”? NBC has confirmed to Gold Derby the identities of all of the upcoming acts. They are:
Daneliya Tuleshova
Singer from “America’s Got Talent” Season 15

Voices of Hope Children’s Choir

Mumbai, Jan 30 (Ians) Indian paddler Yogesh Desai emerged as the World Champion, winning the men’s 70+ singles title in the recently-concluded Ittf World Veterans Table Tennis Championship 2023, in Muscat, Oman.
The Indian contingent returned from Oman with a rich haul of 24 medals, including six gold, six silver and 12 bronze medals.
The Mumbai-based player Desai played with plenty of grit and determination and did well to brush aside the challenge from Czech Republic’s Milan Rakovicky storming to a 3-1 in the best-of-five-game final and claim his maiden gold medal in the event organised by the Oman Table Tennis Association and played at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Another Indian Mantu Murmu also won the World Champion’s crown winning the Women’s 60+ singles crown. The Kolkata-based Murmu proved too good for compatriot Suhasini Bakre smoothly cruising to a 3-0 victory with a measure of ease and clinched the gold medal.

When did you get into "Game of Thrones?" I started watching the show live in its second season. This was when I was in film school, and there were minor rumblings about this fantasy show that wasn't like most fantasy stuff, which was nice to hear since I am not a particularly big fan of the genre. I pulled up the pilot episode on HBO Go (remember HBO Go?), and I was immediately sucked into the world George R.R. Martin had created.
"Game of Thrones" was one of those shows that continued to grow with every passing season as the hype spread like wildfire. Even though it became a worldwide phenomenon, there were people who never got into the show. Maybe they didn't have access to HBO. Maybe they were hoping for more of the mystical fantasy elements that I appreciated not being as much of a focal point. Maybe...

Ghostface will strike again.
The Woodsboro Killer will return in another, as yet untitled, entry in the “Scream” franchise on March 31, 2023. It appears to have that date to itself, but it will have to contend with the second weekend of “John Wick: Chapter 4.” Paramount and Spyglass Media produced the film and the most recent sequel, which served as a reboot of sorts. It went on to gross $139.5 million globally, an impressive result given that it only cost $25 million to produce. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are returning to direct the next slasher story, and James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick will co-write the screenplay. Principal photography is slated to begin this summer and plot details are being tightly guarded, but it’s a safe bet that there will be blood.

Exclusive: Following a global search that took almost a year, Paramount Pictures looks to have found the person to play Bob Marley in its biopic about the reggae legend. Sources tell Deadline that Kingsley Ben-Adir, who starred as Malcolm X in One Night in Miami, has been tapped to play the Jamaican icon, with King Richard helmer Reinaldo Marcus Green directing.
Ziggy Marley, Rita Marley and Cedella Marley will also produce on behalf of Tuff Gong. Robert Teitel will also produce.
Bob Marley died of cancer in 1981 at age 36, but in that short lifetime he changed the landscape of music, introducing generations to reggae with such songs as “Get Up, Stand Up,” “One Love,” “No Woman, No Cry,” “Could You Be Loved,” “Buffalo Soldier,” “Jammin’” and “Redemption Song.”

The great Saul Bass—to my mind the greatest graphic designer of the 20th century—was born 100 years ago today, on May 8, 1920. In over a decade of writing about movie posters I’ve only really written about Bass once—in an article about the evolution of designs for Vertigo—which is surprising because he was undoubtedly the first poster designer I ever knew the name of, and of the six movie posters hanging in my apartment two are by Bass: those for Seconds and The Man With the Golden Arm. Saul Bass is just too well known, and has been written about so widely, that I never felt I had much to add to the discussion. And when Jennifer Bass and Pat Kirkham’s extraordinary Saul Bass: A Life in Film & Design was published in 2011 there seemed little more left to say.But I can’t let this centenary pass unremarked.

The mark of his trailer shall scar thy DNA! Street Fighter villain Gill makes his return in the latest update to Street Fighter V.
Street Fighter V simply refuses to die. Having shown up in early 2016, the game has undergone several waves of Dlc and even got a full-on upgrade as Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition in 2018. After getting 22 downloadable characters tacked onto a base cast of 16, it looked like things were starting to fade for the game. I mean, they gave us Kage and he was just a lame version of Evil Ryu. He seemed like the beginning of the end.
Instead, viewers were hit with a two-punch combo of major news at the latest Capcom Cup tournament. First off, the next Dlc character was announced and it’s a big one. For the first time since 1999’s Street Fighter III: Third Strike, we’ll be able to play as Gill,...

In yet another surprising turn of events for Pokémon Sword and Shield, developer Game Freak has revealed that it intends to change a fundamental aspect of the upcoming Switch exclusives. Since the series’ very beginning, the method in which players progress through each Generation’s story is simple. Catch and train a team of six Pokémon and then defeat a gauntlet of increasingly difficult Gym Leader battles in order to unlock the final endgame face-off against each region’s Elite Four and Champion.
Fans who picked up 2016’s Sun and Moon for the 3Ds will remember that Game Freak attempted to put a twist on the format with Kahunas and Island Challenges, which, while a refreshing change of pace, didn’t quite work as a replacement for what came before.
Fortunately, Sword and Shield will be returning to the Gym format, but unlike the usual eight Gyms, this year’s...

The Golden Buzzer-winning Detroit Youth Choir returned to the America's Got Talent stage to belt out a rendition of Carrie Underwood's "Champion," and needless to say, it was inspiring as hell. The young group of talented singers previously wowed the judges (and host Terry Crews) with a one-of-a-kind take on Macklemore and Ryan Lewis's "Can't Hold Us," and this performance was just as electric.
Season 14 of the show has seen a ton of incredible young singers giving the competition their all. Emanne Beasha, 10, is a full-blown opera prodigy, while Benicio Bryant, 14, consistently stuns the audience with his original songs. And let's not forget 12-year-old Broadway hopeful Luke Islam or 11-year-old violinist Tyler Butler-Figueroa! We can see Tonys and Grammys in all of their futures.
