On Thursday, 22 August 2019 (the day the first series debuted) Sky Television announced that they have commissioned a 6-episode second series of the comedy drama. Filming for series 2 commences at the end of September 2019 for broadcast in 2020.
Shot in part in the market town of Bacup, Lancashire, which is called 'Hawley' in the series. Hawley is a play on Chorley, Joseph Gilgun's home town.
The Crow's Nest pub interior shots are filmed in The Star and Garter music venue in Manchester City Centre.
On Wednesday, 12 February 2020, as part of a major announcement of new commissions and re-commissions by Sky Television, it was announced that series two of the comedy drama would commence broadcast on Sky One in the UK in May 2020 and that the channel has commissioned an 8-episode third series of the show.
While it is based and filmed in an English town, the series features an array of Irish actors and characters.
On Friday, 26th August 2022, ahead of the fourth series airing in the UK, Sky Television announced that they have commissioned a fifth series of the comedy. Filming on series 5 commences at the end of August 2022 for broadcast in 2023.
