One of greatest things said in this show. And, this is how i feel whenever i watch Atypical. Hugging people and permission to hug.

Perfection

I don't usually give a 10. For me 7-9 covers good, very good to excellent Atypical has made me re-evaluate all this.

This episode shows such optimism and heart breaking emmotions from scene to scene.

I read a quote at Forbes which sums up this show better than my words.

"To not watch at this point is to deny oneself television perfection in its purest form."

TV at it's best...

I have trouble showing my emotions similar to Sam's father. This tv show, and this episode has showed myself how wonderful it is to let go and allow your feelings to come out for others to see and me to feel what life is all about. What wonders the world has to share with each of us and how much each of us has to share with our fellow man. The writers of this show should be so proud of the way they are allowing each of us to not only watch a terrific show but take lessons that bring us closer to the people in our lives. Help someone else in your life and ask them to watch Atypical you will be happy you did...

Nothing but excellent

This was definitely one of the best episode of the series so far. Through hard work, Sam was finally able to conceive the essence of a penguin which he then also managed to convey in a way that not only impressed his professor, but almost had me crying.

And on top of that, the so, so loveable relationship between Casey and Izzie took another step. However, this actually leaves me rather ambivalent, seeing as Evan in no way possible deserves having his girlfriend go behind his back. Will be interesting to see how the writers deal with this in the coming episodes.

Oh boy, did this episode just hit a "home run"!

The part about essence is just one of those ultra rare moments of true synergy where everything just ..... fits.

It's like ...... this glues all the previous episodes together in a way that makes everything so much more meaningful - and it didn't think about it before this. It's a brilliant series and the story so far is absolutely amazing but it's like if this single plot twist turned all previous episodes into gold.

"Permission to hug?" almost made me cry (which is something I, as an "aspie" myself) don't do all that often, to put it mildly.....

We ALL have an essence! The tricky part is to find it - which even NT's (neuro typical people) struggle with, as we learn from the rest of the characters in the story.

One of my personal top 10 moments in TV and that says a LOT.

Reading the other reviews they were on point. I just want to add, Sam's description of the essence of a penguin is one of the greatest, most emotional scenes ever.

I'm a penguin

A really lovely episode, Sam learning to understand an abstract concept was beautiful. The storylines were well developed and there were a few great moments. The Zahid subplot with his annoying girlfriend is unnecessary.
