I watched this purely based on the high praise received in several reviews. I generally avoid "low budget" and I very much avoid "low budget British" as they tend to be "not very good". Gritty, real life, real people, intense type films don't really interest me. However I thought I'd be open minded and supportive (based on the reviews) and give it a go. Needless to say I'm writing this review now and (hang on)... there are still over 20 minutes to go. The 73 minutes that have gone so far could have been covered in about 10. That's how slow it is. I honestly don't care what happens to any of the people in it. If they all end up dead I think that's fine. As long as something actually happens. 18 minutes left. Nothing yet...

Watched this on the recommendation of friend and really enjoyed it - there is so much bland content created for streaming now it is almost a surprise if it's decent - and this is for sure . Very atmospheric and moody - parts of it feel a bit bad dream like . Surprised to read it was first time directors - be interested to see where they take the next one with a bit of experience under their belts.
Great cast - jo felt a very real and Kev carried an air of menace throughout . Infact I thought all the main characters were very watchable .
Nice to see a little indie movie give the big budgets a run for their money .

My kind of film

Soundproof is exactly the sort of film I love. It's a completely believable story, character driven, yet suspenseful. Great performances from all the cast, particularly the two young actors, Ellie Bindman and Gabe Robinson. I like the way that the film moved to some interesting locations and really used them to develop the plot.
It just goes to show how good a small-budget indie film can be. I wasn't surprised to read that Soundproof has won awards at film festivals in the UK and abroad. I would recommend Soundproof to anyone who enjoys their films grounded in reality and I will certainly be giving it a second viewing.

Soundproof is a gripping story with a realistic gritty & believable plot line. The acting was accomplished and convincing. There is plenty of action and drama. It deals sensitively with hard hitting issues. The mothers character is very relatable and you feel immediate sympathy for her. The daughters character is also especially sympathetic. Set in London and Kent with incredible cinematography. There is a bit of realistic violence which isn't gratuitous but could upset younger viewers. It would be fantastic to see in on the big screen, but sadly this is not currently possible but do yourself a favour and watch it!

This was an excellent production that kept my interest from start to finish. The acting and all the characters were spot on and believable. There were some violent scenes in places but they were well done and I thought necessary for the plot development. The locations were made the most of too and added to the interest of the movie.
The only goof I detected was towards the end of the movie where Tom returns a salute. If he was ex British army he would not have saluted palm down - that being the navy salute. A minor fault.
I didn't recognise any of the cast but they all did a top job. Can only recommend as an entertaining and gripping watch.

Looked beautiful, with beautiful performances. I am an actress and watch a lot of low budget stuff, some being very melodramatic. Although even with tense scenarios going on here, there was a real integrity to some of the performances. I also like the fact that the main female character is quite flawed. It's good to see women who aren't so stereotypical. The young girl in it has a great face and goes a good job at portraying conflicting emotions. I enjoyed the music and felt that the sex scene was really tender as well. I am really over gratuitous tits and ass shots personally and this kind of stuff shows that sex scenes can be done really well without a nipple in sight.

This is a thrilling watch, the tone of the movie is generally hard hitting and at times quite a dark and gritty drama but well balanced with humour and some beautiful locations. The intimacy and intensity of the mobile home and in-car scenes mixed with the sweeping shots of the lake and surrounding post-apocalyptic structures are a visual treat.
Above all, the casting / acting is fantastic. The raw talent and actors' abilities to uplift this film from an aesthetically pleasing flick to a thoroughly captivating indy movie, kept me on the edge of my seat.
I can't wait to see what the director and actors have in store for us next!

This movie kept my attention and I thought the plot was entertaining and very interesting. I think the atmosphere was amazing it was gritty and I love that. I think the gore and more hard hitting bits were well done and made sense.
It was an amazingly done low budget British movie.
The characters were well done and nicely written, I usually get bored with movies and find them going by at a snail pase but this one really kept my attention and didn't go by slowly it went fast! The whole movie was so good and I think it was so well thought out it really was a thrilling thriller. I recommend to anyone.

Been waiting a while to watch this, and really enjoyed it! - I had heard it had done well at some UK festivals and was pleased to see it truly lived up to and exceeded my expectations! - Fast moving, gritty and exciting, just what I was after.
What a fantastic production from a little known cast - with truly believable acting from all the main characters, including and especially Ellie and Gabe. - Great to see what can come out from an unknown writer and and indeed first time directing!
This is low budget indie film at its best! - Would recommend to anyone after some action, with a fast pace and some bold acting!

An intriguing and genre defying film! Nuanced in its depiction of relationships and people's characters. They don't behave as you might expect them to in a film; they seem hyper real and the dialogue often feels unscripted. It cleverly leaves a lot of things unsaid but understood. The actors (including the teenagers) are superb and it's hard to believe they're not household names as they deserve to be! No doubt we will see more of them.
All beautifully shot on location in the UK in both gritty urban London and rural areas (I should watch the credits again to find out where).
Shame it wasn't released in cinemas as it deserves to be seen on the big screen.

Totally blown away by the emotional roller coaster experienced watching this film.
I've not seen such an authentic production and acting for a very very long time... the directors and actors are bound to be snapped up by bigger budget film makers, if this is what they can produce on their own.
It seems like the makers of the film, had a super low budget.
To bring out a production like this, they have been very creative with the settings and have recruited very talented actors ...I'm sure we will see more of all involved with this film.
Watching this space, to see what else they can bring to our screens.

Gritty British drama which takes you from despair to hope

This is a beautifully shot, gritty drama that covers some incredibly dark themes. But intertwined with this is the most beautiful character development, and the depiction of some quite lovely non-romantic relationships which grow through the film.
A roller coaster of mundane day to day life to on the edge of your seat excitement, this was a film you want to pause before making a cup of tea so as not to miss anything.
Despite the darkness of the themes covered, you finish watching the film with a sense of hope, but without a sickly sweet Hollywood happy ending.
The acting is excellent, there are no big names here but some serious talent.
I'd be intrigued to see what this team make next.

This movie is a micro-budget feature. It has no big names. And the writers/directors (working as a duo!) are brand new talent.
BUT YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW ANY OF THIS. It is a really exceptional piece of cinema.
I loved this movie. The dialogue. The cinematography. The story. The characters. The music.
All of it.
I am really excited to see where the team behind it end up. Because this project is way more sophisticated than I expected. No wonder they did so well on the film festival rounds.
It is a gritty and enjoyable piece.
Please someone give them some cash and a big name or two and let's see where this refreshing British talents end up.
