Great Fun

Peacock

This was great fun and extremely well written and acted. Andy's brand of delusion, machismo and banter worked well as he navigated the dating world looking for the one.

Just like People Doing Nothing we, the viewer, needed time to get used to the characters and watching it a second time it was really hilarious.

I'm giving this a firm 6 outta 10 and looked forward to more!

I was surprised by how much I liked this

I think cringe comedy is getting a little stale but this was done well enough and the character was likable enough that it didn't matter.

A unique gym setting made for some funny situational jokes and the guy's struggle of growing old and looking for companionship is universal so it was relatable.

Many shows I've seen lately are filled with completely outlandish, unrelatable characters acting completely over the top absurd. So it starts to feel like watching a bunch of cartoon characters in increasingly contrived situations. This avoided that by grounding it reality, but still allowing for some silliness.

I recommend it...I hope there are some more episodes because it was kind of short to be honest.

Good Fun

If you like the office then you should like this... the main character is like a David Brent personnel trainer.

It's not a side splitting comedy but it will give you a few chuckles. Hope they make more episodes as it has potential.

3 Jeffing episodes

What was the actual point. Got good then ended. What a waste of talent and direction this surely should of been 8 episodes to make sure you get the full development of what there's boys and girls can offer.

Pretty good job so far.

After seeing People Just Do Nothing many years ago, I watched Peacock the day it came out - binged it all and I'm going to revisit again. The plot is hilarious the whole idea of making everything cringe and awkward for comedic effect, it's what they do best. Still bringing the charm it did from PJDN.

The only downside is that you'll be done with it under 2 hours, watching the 3 same episodes may make it harder to re-watch. However it is so much better than The Curse the other series they brought out.

I'm really looking forward to what they bring out next!

A cracking, funny show.
Sleepin_Dragon22 June 2022
Andy Peacock, he's a personal trainer, he's forty, he's at home, he's looking for love.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show, it gets funnier as it progresses, the laughs are varied, some cracking one liners, some great cringe humour.

Andy's family, they are hilarious, I would love to see more of them, I got Friday Night Dinner vibes from them, more of that please.

Allan Mustafa, he's never going to disappoint, the guy is very, very talented. Andy is so relatable, many people are probably in this guy's situation, at home and trying to make it through life. It's very well observed.

How disappointing that it's just three episodes long, this wonderful show deserves a much longer run, this is a cracking show. BBC get your act together, more of this, and on at a better time.

9/10.

Short review

Basically, not funny. Not one smile or chuckle through the whole thing. Really wanted to like it but just unfunny. Left me wondering why I had bothered.

Allan Mustafa and his crew are at the cutting edge of global comedy.

There are not many comedy pioneers these days and this is another dose of comedy ambrosia from the team behind People Do Nothing. It's a shame Diane Morgan isn't in it or is she? - I'm only on episode 1...

Very mediocre.
fxh-23 May 2022
This should've been longer than a few episodes. They could've fleshed it out more. I didn't really see the point of this series, the writing needs work. This felt like pumping out a series for the sake of doing it.

A great little surprise, didn't know this was being made, and binged all episodes. Only disappointment was that there were only three episodes, so definitely hoping this is recommissioned!

Subtle, relatable. Not always laugh out loud. But that's ok!
jamilburn11 May 2022
This is a clever and insightful take on modern life. Not in your face "aren't I hilarious?" comedy, because most of the time that's not funny. You may not laugh out loud, but if it doesn't make you laugh inside at the relatable / cringeworthy moments, you just aren't watching it right. Or perhaps it's just not for you. Great effort on this and good to see the kurupt fm guys taking on new characters instead of sticking to the same old thing.

Absolute gash!
Go_For_The_Jugular29 April 2022
I understand them wanting to broaden their horizons...but my god, everything after People Just Do Nothing, has been atrocious!!!

Unlike fine wine, they get WORSE with time:

  • PJDN = comedy gold
  • PJDN (movie) = barely funny, but watchable
  • The Curse = totally unfunny, barely watchable
  • Peacock = unfunny, unwatchable

Why not just stick with what they're good at...and continue the PJDN series? There's no real limit to how far they could have taken that...look at the 'Trailer Park Boys' universe, for example. They did what they did best...and didn't dip their toes in unknown waters.

This is one for the die hard AM and SS fans only.

Absolutely hated it!

*Surprise, surprise...it's got a perfect 10-star rating from a brand new account, with no other reviews besides this. If you're going to fake reviews, don't make it so obvious! Better yet, don't do them at all!*

*Edit*

So now there are TWO reviewers giving it a perfect 10...both new accounts, with no other reviews. Jesus wept.

Average at best
bluesman-967472 May 2022
When I saw that Susan Wokoma was on the cast list, hopes and expectation were high.

But not only is she criminally underused but also given a script that is mostly dull and forgettable.

The other characters are too dull, despite the attempt to exaggerate the stereotypes that might normally work to great effect.

It's no joke
RedMars20172 May 2022
Funny premise, silly main character, no jokes. No setups. No punchlines. It's like a student film made on a bigger budget. One of those films your mates gets excited to show you and you sit through bland sketches and desperate gurning. I guess this is what BBC Comedy throws money at, trying to recreate the magic of PJDN. Average.

Too ahort
the-shadow198710 May 2022
Found this on iPlayer, watched the 3 episodes thinking there would be more to the series. Don't get why it's just the 3, no time to develop the story, or characters. Blue and Georgia so far are the only likeable ones for me lol.
