Tecteun glimpsed the infinite through the gateway, and found a lone child thrown through from the other realm. She chose to rescue the foundling and adopt the child as her own.
Mother and child explored the universe, and Tecteun eventually returned to Gallifrey. She searched for clues as to where the child came from, but the child yielded nothing. The Master points out that Cybermen are part organic, and Ashad says that his new Cyberwarriors are purged of organic components. They shall rise towards full automation, driven by the intelligence of the Cyberium. When it's done, Ashad shall make the final ascension to full mechanization.
Unimpressed, the Master says that they'll be robots. He tells Ashad that he's disappointed but it lacks vision. The Master says that the Cyberium's strategy is good but not great. Ashad grabs him, and the Master offers to facilitate Ashad becoming the dominant force in the universe he can facilitate it.

She asks if the Doctor has ever been limited by who she was before, and the Doctor figures that sounds like her talking. The Doctor figures that the Matrix is draining her energy, and Ruth tells her that it doesn't matter. Ruth says that one thing is nagging at her, and tells her to get out of the Matrix and blow its mind.

He says that he has won by bringing her low, and invites her to become him.
After a moment, the Doctor lowers the explosive. The Master says that for just a moment he thought she'd trigger the bomb. Ko Sharmus arrives and says that he followed the Doctor, and wanted to be sure the Cybermasters were destroyed. He takes the explosives and says that he was part of a resistance unit that sent the Cyberium back through time and space... but they didn't send it back far enough. Ko Sharmus says that it is his penance to finish the Cyberium, but the universe needs the Doctor so she'd better run.
